Joanna & Chip Gaines Share Sweet Family Time Harvesting Honey

On Joanna and Chip Gaines‘ Waco, Texas farm, harvesting honey is a family affair.

It’s also a sweet way to hold on to summer and spend time together before the Gaines’ two oldest children head off to college.

In a video posted on her Instagram account, Joanna Gaines showed how all five of their kids suited up from head to toe to collect honey from the Magnolia Farm hives. But even with the suits, it was still tricky business.

In her post, Joanna wrote, “Honey harvest day at the farm!🍯🐝✨

The bees were hanging by the front door so we had to go in and out the side window, which made it a bit more challenging 🤣

So proud of our bees, they work so hard🥹👏🏼”

The video shows Drake (20), Ella Rose (18), Duke (16), Emmie Kay (15) and Crew (7) gathering the honey and shaking the bees off the honeycomb frames. They then took the frames inside to “uncap” them- which means scraping off the wax caps from the honey cells. After that, each honeycomb frame went into an extractor, which spins the frames to release the honey.

Gaines Family Has a Plentiful Honey Harvest

All the effort by the Gaines family- including Joanna climbing in and out of the window to avoid the bees camped out by the front door- was well worth it.

The end of the video shows jar after jar after jar of freshly gathered honey.

Joanna set the fun video to a french version of the Nancy Sinatra tune “These Boots Are Made for Walking” called “Ces bottes sont faites pour marcher” by Eileen.

Joanna Gaines Makes Honey Harvest Centerpiece of Fall at the Silos

Honey is front and center in Joanna Gaines’ new fall decor at Magnolia Silos.

In a video posted to her Instagram account, Joanna tells the camera that the season’s theme is “embracing what matters most,” saying “I’m embracing my kids before they go off to college.”

Later in the video while standing in front of a display of honey, Joanna says, “So we wanted to do a honey story here inside. I’m actually harvesting all of the honey at the farm this week with the kiddos. I cannot wait.”

The display includes tiny adorable handmade bees that Joanna says she, “can’t wait to put up.”

Joanna Designed Her New Butler’s Pantry With an Eye Toward Honey

Joanna Gaines even built in “honey storage” in her new butler’s pantry at her farmhouse in Waco, Texas.

In an episode of her latest show, “Mini Reni,” Joanna transformed her youngest son Crew’s old bedroom into a butler’s pantry, building open shelving above the fireplace in the room expressly as a place to keep her many jars of honey.
