Chelsea & Cole DeBoer Relive a Scary Incident in ‘Down Home Fab’ Season 3 Premiere

Season 3 of “Down Home Fab” should have started on a high note for HGTV stars Chelsea & Cole DeBoer, but fans will first see the couple reflect on a truly frightening incident in tonight’s premiere episode. In an exclusive sneak peek, People shared details from the couple’s in-episode recollections of receiving a phone call that any business owner would dread in June 2024.

In the first look, an employee calls Chelsea & Cole and says: “Chelsea, a car just drove through the front of the store. I just got off the phone with the police. They’re on their way.” Chelsea shared the news on Instagram soon after the incident, giving fans an update on the store and its employees. Tonight’s episode will give viewers a chance to see their reactions to the accident nearly one year later.

The Former ‘Teen Mom 2’ Star Said Her Mind Went to “Worst Case Scenario”

Naturally, the couple was instantly overwhelmed by the news. In a confessional segment, Chelsea reveals her first thoughts after receiving that fateful phone call. “Immediately my mind is going to worst case scenario and thinking, ‘Are any customers hurt?'” she said. “‘Are our employees hurt?’ Or, ‘Our store is destroyed.'”

When Chelsea & Cole discovered that no one had been injured in the incident, they were both relieved. However, as Cole shares, the driver of the vehicle was beside herself. “She was bawling in my arms,” he explains in the confessional. From what both stars share in People’s first look, it’s clear that the event is still a difficult memory, even so long after it happened.

Chelsea & Cole Had to Rebuild After the Incident

Although the employees and shoppers of Down Home by DeBoers emerged from the incident unscathed, the storefront wasn’t so lucky. “We got the window boarded up,” Chelsea explained in People’s first look. “There was glass that hit everything in this vicinity and so we’re having to clear out quite a bit. Even more than I think I was expecting.”

At the time of the incident, KELO shared footage of the crash’s aftermath, which shows one full-size window completely shattered from the impact. This, of course, necessitated repairs, which closed the store temporarily. As the company’s COO, Zoe Hill, told KELO at the time, she was planning a “scratch and dent sale” for any merchandise damaged in the collision.

Fans can watch the rest of this confessional segment, and the beginning of Chelsea & Cole’s next chapter, when “Down Home Fab” Season 3 airs tonight at 8:00PM EST on HGTV.
