Nate Berkus & Jeremiah Brent Reveal Crazy Inspiration for New Collection

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent just released their latest collection of furniture, and you’ll never guess what motivated the design concept.

“This particular collection is really inspired by the dad’s house in ‘Parent Trap,’” Brent said with a chuckle in a promotional video

And to be clear, he was talking about the remake, not the original 1961 Disney film. The video included a pair of still shots from the 1998 version, one of them featuring Dennis Quaid holding a young Lindsay Lohan in her first movie role

The other photo was of a room in the house owned by Quaid’s character in the movie. Berkus said moments of inspiration can happen while he and Brent are watching something together.

“We always stop, when we see the backdrop of a film that we love,” Berkus said.

Berkus also shared a video to his Instagram page highlighting the release of the Estate collection, as part of a collaboration with Living Spaces. Berkus wrote, “Seeing a new collection come to life is a really special thing.”

Brent opened the promotional video, and drew a laugh from Berkus, by comically grumbling, “Oh, so many seasons we’ve been through,” but the duo has been followed by fans of the design industry for a while.

Brent and Berkus, who were married in 2014, starred in three reality shows, beginning in 2017 with TLC’s “Nate & Jeremian By Design.” Between 2020 and 2023, they hosted a pair of shows for HGTV that were produced by Drew and Jonathan Scott’s entertainment company, “Nate & Jeremiah: Save My House,” and “The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project.”

Early in 2024, rumors were confirmed when Brent was added to the cast of Netflix’s “Queer Eye” for its ninth season, and in recent comments to Us Weekly, it didn’t seem likely that there would be a return to TV for he and Berkus anytime soon.

“I don’t know, we did it for so long,” Brent, 46, told the outlet, laughing, “I need a break, I see him every day!”

“I mean, I would do anything with him,” Brent continued. “But to be honest with you, doing this show, ‘Queer Eye,’ has changed my life.”

Previous reporting had indicated that, as would be expected, Berkus was fully behind Brent’s decision to join the show. Talking to Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” on December 10, Brent said, “Nate was super sweet, in that he said ‘This show is exactly what you should be doing. Great people, it’s about the right things at the right time, which you know.’ He’s always the most supportive.”
