Ben and Erin Napier are college sweethearts who continue to keep the sparks flying in their marriage. Find out the simple secret to the HGTV stars’ relationship and how they find ways to make date night a priority.
Ben & Erin Napier Have a Simple Philosophy in Their Marriage
The couple spends a lot of time working together and they are partners in raising their children. The secret to their perfect marriage is simple enough. “We communicate constantly,” Erin told House Beautiful in a March 2025 interview. “We’re very lucky that we are able to because we’re always together.”
Finding time for date nights isn’t always easy, however. No worries — they have a workaround for it! “We love day dates,” Erin explained. “If we get a little free afternoon, we’ll go just the two of us and have lunch somewhere.”
She added, “It’s a great time for connection when the nights are crazy when you have kids.”
The couple does everything as a team. “At the end of the day, we love each other and we’re best friends,” Ben explained.
He continued, “Most of the time, people aren’t out to get you: They’re just out here surviving like the rest of us — especially, especially your spouse. We say the same thing all the time because we’re on the same team and we’re in this together.”
The HGTV Stars Have the Cutest First Kiss Story
In the first episode of “Home Town Takeover” season 3, the Napiers shared a sweet moment when they worked on renovating a soda shop in Sebring, Florida.
Ben brought Erin a peach soda and she recalled the details of their first kiss.
“The night we went on our first date, we stopped at a gas station and he got a peach soda, our favorite, and we shared it,” Erin explained.
She continued, “We were headed back to the dorm, he was going to drop me off, and then he said, ‘Would it be alright with you if I gave you a kiss?'”
The HGTV star added, “That was our first kiss. It tasted like peach soda.”
The pair met at Jones County Junior College. In a 2020 interview with People, Erin shared more about their early days. “He was like a celebrity crush to me. He was the president of every club and very popular but not exclusive,” she said. “I would see someone eating alone in the cafeteria, and there was Ben, pulling up a chair beside them.”
They connected when she interviewed Ben for the school yearbook. “Six days later we decided we would get married, and that was that,” Erin said.
