Ben and Erin Napier have been married for 16 years and are just the sweetest couple. The HGTV stars continue to keep their romance alive with gestures that aren’t always grand, but they are thoughtful and meaningful.
Ben & Erin Napier Share the ‘Best Way to Find Happiness in Your Marriage’
In a March 19 Instagram post featuring the couple on the cover of Us Weekly, Erin shared the biggest key to their thriving relationship.
“We get a lot of questions about our marriage because we work together. How we get along, find family time, keep the romance alive and all that … ,” she wrote in the caption.
Erin continued, “We did a lot of talking for this interview and we answered all those questions, but I think the best way to find happiness in your marriage is to serve one another. Never stop talking. Pray together. Show each other so much grace. Be on the same team.”
She added, “We only have 20 years of practice, and we are not experts, but it’s worked for us every time. Thank you so much, @usweekly for letting us talk about our favorite subject. ❤️ In stores everywhere this week!”
In a March 2025 interview with Us Weekly, the Napiers shared a peek at how they show their love for each other with sweet gestures.
Erin noted, “I don’t feel qualified to talk on much, but I am so extremely happy in our marriage.”
She shared how her husband adheres “to the philosophy that every day, you should do something to make your spouse fall in love with you again.”
Ben holds up that commitment every single day. Erin recalled when he surprised her with a private chef one Valentine’s day for a backyard meal. “He set up a big canvas tent on our girls’ swing set,” she said. “I was sick with Covid and kind of miserable, but he made me feel so special. It was like we had been on a trip. It was magical.”
He also leaves Erin love notes every day, often just little sweet messages that show he cares. “They don’t say anything profound,” Erin noted. “Things like, ‘I’m so thankful that it’s you and me, and that this is what our life is,’ or, ‘Thank you for being mine, and I’ll always do my best for you every day.'”
The HGTV Stars Take Care of Each Other
Notes and romantic gestures aside, the HGTV stars take care of each other with chores and acts of kindness. Erin takes out the garbage, for example, to take the task off of Ben’s plate.
She also gets his coffee set up the night before for the next morning. “I don’t drink coffee, but he does, so I get the coffee maker ready the night before,” she explained. She even sets out a meaningful mug that he can use.
“We went to Ole Miss to speak at an event, so I put his Ole Miss mug [out]. It’s a little secret language we have,” Erin shared. “It’s just a mug, but it’s meaningful.”
Ben takes care of the gardens, which Erin called “a romantic gesture to me.” She added, “He makes sure we have something fresh I can [harvest] to cook.”
He also has firewood and a warm fire at the ready when necessary. “If it’s cold when I wake up, there’s a fire,” Erin noted.
Her husband makes sure everyone is cared for. “Ben wants everyone to have the best possible experience, even if it’s just breakfast on a Tuesday morning,” Erin explained.
