HGTV Show Celebrates Another Season Amid Many Cancelled Shows

As HGTV viewers react to what some are calling a total gut job renovation of the network’s schedule, one set of hosts is celebrating surviving the revamp.

In an Instagram post, “100 Day Dream Home” host Brian Kleinschmidt put up he and wife Mika’s audition video for HGTV. In the post, he wrote, “Cannot believe it was 8 years ago that we shot this homemade audition video. 🤯

This is where it all began…

2 young dreamers with 2 shovels, a cell phone and a ladder. 🪏📱🪜

Did you know our original show title was “Breaking Ground”? 🤔

We wouldn’t be where we are today without each and every one of you watching, supporting and believing in us. 🙌

Can never thank you enough for helping turn this backyard dream into a big screen reality. 🙏

The dream continues this Fall with a brand new season! 💯”

While no premiere date for season six of “100 Day Dream Home” has been announced, the Kleinschmidts have been posting videos behind-the-scenes shooting new episodes.

Eight Year Old Audition Tape Shows Mika & Brian Pitching Show Called ‘Breaking Ground’

The “100 Day Dream Home” hosts have come a long way since they shot their audition tape with a cell phone propped up on a ladder eight years ago.

At the time, the show they pitched was titled “Breaking Ground.” It later became “100 Day Dream Home.”

In fact, Brian’s Instagram handle is “Mr. Breaking Ground.”

The pair are teasing some possible changes for the season ahead. In an Instagram post, they write, “We’re always learning, exploring, and growing. 🫡

Can’t wait to show you where this field trip took us. 🏗️

New Season Coming This Fall! 💯”

HGTV Has Put a Number of Fan Favorites On the Chopping Block

While “100 Day Dream Home” survived, HGTV has announced a series of show cancellations including “Bargain Block,” “Married to Real Estate,” “Izzy Does It,” “Farmhouse Fixer,” and “Battle on the Beach.”

“Farmhouse Fixer” star and New Kid on the Block Jonathan Knight posted news of his show’s cancellation on Instagram, writing, “A lot of you have been asking about the future of Farmhouse Fixer. I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season. While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons. Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”

Other shows are still awaiting word of their fate, including a second season of “The Flip Off” with Tarek El Moussa, wife Heather Rae El Moussa and ex-wife Christina Haack.

Though if a season two does come, Heather for one would like to shake things up by reorganizing the teams.

In an interview with People, Heather says she’d love to team up with Christina Haack while Tarek El Moussa flies solo in the competition. “I think that it would be super fun. I think that people would love to see Christina and I working together and beating my husband because he thinks that he could beat us, especially in a design contest,” Heather enthused.
