HGTV stars Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt are hard at work on new episodes of their hit show ‘100 Day Dream Home’, having wrapped filming on season 5 and kicked off production on season 6. Brian and Mika sat down with EntertainmentNOW on December 17 to talk all things ‘100 Day Dream Home’ and their Christmas collaboration with Louis Jadot wines and No Story Lost, and teased what series firsts fans can expect to see in the coming episodes.
“Back in college I volunteered a lot with Habitat for Humanity, and that’s kind of where I fell in love with new construction,” Brian shared. “And I knew I always wanted to get back to that and highlight that organization since it’s a really great one. And we’ve been pitching the idea of doing a Habitat for Humanity house for five, now six, seasons, and it’s finally happening.”
Brian & Mika Kleinschmidt Are Excited to Dive Deeper in ‘100 Day Dream Home’ Season 6
“Yeah, we’re super excited with [the Habitat for Humanity house]. I think we have to keep it fresh,” Mika added. “Every time we get a new season, we’re like, ‘Alright, how do we keep the viewers engaged and not do the same thing over?’ We also have a really cool shipping container house that we’re doing on the river. So just different kinds of construction, and keeping it new.”
HGTV has yet to announce a premiere date for the remaining season 5 episodes or the upcoming season 6.
Brian went on to share that in addition to the unique construction projects he and Mika are undertaking, they are also trying to push the storytelling on their show. He said, “Every single season we focus even more and dive even deeper with our family stories. Almost like what we did with our story [in this book]. I think that’s what keeps viewers coming back, is hearing the ‘why’, and really digging deep, so we have some great stories, great families, and can’t wait to show them.”
Brian & Mika Kleinschmidt Share Their Family Story
Not only are Brian and Mika telling their client’s family stories, but they are also telling their own family story. For their partnership with Louis Jadot and No Story Lost, the “100 Day Dream Home” stars got to test out the companies’ limited-time gift, Vintage Love Story Chronicles. The gift package comes with two wine glasses and a gift card for Louis Jadot wines. Couples are then able to sit down together over a glass of wine while recounting their love story in a guided interview. From there, the No Story Lost team transforms a couple’s love story into a hard cover book filled with stories and photos from over the years.
“This was a fun gift idea, but [also a] date idea,” Brian said of the experience. “It’s like three gifts in one, the initial presentation of the gift, then it’s the interview process, which is a gift itself. And then you get this [book about your love story] in the mail, which is incredible. And it doesn’t hurt that a little wine goes with it.”
“It was really cool, because our lives are so busy that it was kind of a moment for us to unwind, sit down, and actually reminisce on a lot of our accomplishments, and the adventures we’ve been on. So it was definitely cool reliving some of that,” Mika added.
