Arabella Stanton just made every Hermione fan squeal. The young actress behind Hermione Granger in “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions” recently opened up about the moment she found out she got the role, her experience in the recording booth, and how she relates to the character she’s bringing to life. From nerves to pure joy, it seems like Arabella’s journey to Hogwarts-level stardom is one to remember.
From School Panic to Casting Shock
Her big news moment was anything but ordinary. “It was very funny because I got back from school and my parents said, right, we need to have a talk to you about your behaviour. And I was like, what have I done wrong? I was so nervous that they were going to tell me off and I’d be, like, suspended from school,” she explained.
Arabella went on to say, “They were like, OK, so, um, you’re going to be playing the part of Hermione Granger in the audio series. And I just stopped for a few seconds, I was like, what? I thought it was about behaviour. I was, like, so shocked. And I was like, oh, my gosh, I was so happy.” Yep, that moment when your worst-case-scenario panic turns into your wildest dream; fans everywhere are living for it.
Mastering Hermione’s Voice in Audio
She also gave fans a peek behind the curtain at what it’s like to record a character like Hermione. “I think I talk quite like Hermione. And in audio, you have to very, like, pronounce your words a lot. And so I think Hermione sort of overdoes that because she talks very well. It’s a little bit younger, I think. So, yeah, I think I had to pitch a little bit higher and pronounce my words more,” per Instagram.
The sound booth setup also sounds super intense. According to Arabella, “It’s so complicated, like, there’s a huge desk with all the little buttons you have to press for the right cues. It’s a big soundproof room, and there are quite, like, sometimes squishy things on the walls to make it soundproof. And, I mean, you wear a set of headphones, and the director talks into your headphones to give you tips on the lines.” Arabella’s precision, focus, and obvious love for the role really shine through.
A Hermione in Real Life
It seems like Arabella and Hermione share more than just a voice. “I think I’m quite similar to Hermione. I mean, I think I’m fairly good at school. I always want to do everything perfectly, but I have to tell myself, no, I can’t do everything perfectly,” the actress pointed out. That mix of determination, cleverness, and a little self-doubt? Totally Hermione. And if that wasn’t enough for fans, Arabella will also portray Hermione in the upcoming HBO reboot scheduled for 2027; clearly, she’s becoming the face of the next generation’s Hermione.
Fans can pre-order “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions” here. The audios will release beginning in November 2025, with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” then subsequent books will release one per month until the series is complete.
With her charm, precision, and obvious love for the character, Arabella Stanton’s Hermione is already feeling like a new fan favorite.
