Hallmark’s Tyler Hynes Gets Knighted in Star-Studded New Promos: Behind the Scenes (EXCLUSIVE)

It took five people and 30 minutes to get Hallmark superstar Tyler Hynes into a clunky, metal suit of armor for one of the network’s new Hallmark+ promos, which debuted on May 8, 2025. But the hilarious result was definitely worth the pain.

“It pinched in places I don’t wish to describe or re-live,” Hynes joked to EntertainmentNow, recalling the promo shoot with fellow Hallmark stars Lacey Chabert, Andrew Walker, Tamera Mowry-Housley, and Erin Krakow.

Hynes also appears in a second promo for the streaming platform — without the medieval knight’s costume — alongside Heather Hemmens, one of co-stars in “The Groomsmen” trilogy. The promos and related Hallmark+ campaign materials are rolling out across TV, digital, social media, print, and at Hallmark stores, per Hallmark Media, which is also offering fans a half-off discount on new Hallmark+ subscriptions in May.

Tyler Hynes Shares Funny Moments Behind the Scenes of Hallmark+ Promo Shoot

According to Hallmark Media, the new promo campaign for Hallmark+, which launched in September 2024, was “designed to harness the deep affinity viewers have for Hallmark’s stars” and “highlights the real friendships and camaraderie among the actors.”

While stuck in his cumbersome knight suit, Hynes was surrounded by friends for the funny “Royal Visitors” promo, including his longtime buddy Walker, who co-stars with him in the “Three Wise Men and a Baby” movies.

“I do recall Drew being the prince he is and removing my toothpick from my mouth before ‘action’ because I couldn’t reach,” Hynes told EntertainmentNow, and then joked, “He may or may not have put it in his own mouth at some point. Or it went in his pocket for safe keeping. He is chivalrous like that!”

The 30-second promo also delivered an all-too-brief onscreen reunion for Hynes and Krakow, who starred in 2021’s “It Was Always You” — a beloved rom-com fans have been longing for a sequel to since it premiered.

Hynes said it was “the first time we laid eyes on each other in a long time,” noting that Krakow “couldn’t stop giggling — that’s all I could see, is her in the background grinning from ear to ear.”

The promo was shot to look like a clip from one of Hallmark’s royal romances, with Walker and Chabert dressed to the nines inside a palatial room, looking into each others’ eyes as she swoons, “I can’t believe you’re an actual prince.”

Walker replies, “A prince that loves you” — but he’s suddenly interrupted by clanking in the background. The camera focuses in on Hynes, inexplicably stuck in a knight suit behind them. Exasperated, Walker exclaims, “Tyler!?” and, after flipping open his suit’s metal mask, Hynes deadpans, “This is the kind of moment people love on Hallmark+.”

As a director calls “cut” in the background, Mowry-Housley pops out from a hidden bookcase and chimes in, “People love the dramas, rom-coms, and mysteries!” Following close behind, Krakow, who stars in Hallmark’s long-running series “When Calls the Heart,” beams as she tells Walker and Chabert, “And new original series and movies streamed the very next day!”

After a butler suddenly appears, reading a scroll with details about the benefits that come with a Hallmark+ subscription, Hynes hilariously interrupts, “I gotta scratch my nose by I can’t reach” and the butler scurries over to help.

Hynes also appears with Hemmens in a 15-second promo, made to look like they’re on a break during filming as they sit in directors’ chairs next to the craft services table. As Hemmens looks at her phone while Hynes prepares to eat lunch, he says, “Hey, can I get that?”

Thinking he’s looking at her phone, Hemmens tells him he should definitely sign up for Hallmark+, telling him of the “thousands of movies and series” he’ll gain access to.

“Oh, I’ve got Hallmark+,” Hynes replies and, pointing to his sandwich, cutely says, “I was talking about the mustard.”
