Six weeks into motherhood, longtime Hallmark Channel star Torrey DeVitto can’t believe how hard being a new mom is, but says she “wouldn’t change it for the world.” The “Chicago Med” alum, who left California for Michigan during the pandemic, detailed the highs and lows of life with her baby girl via two candid Instagram Stories on January 3, 2025.
DeVitto and Jared LaPine, whom she married in September, welcomed daughter Lyle-Josephine Alina LaPine on November 21, LaPine revealed on Instagram. Their daughter’s arrival came after a particularly difficult pregnancy for DeVitto and a challenging birth. The actress admitted in her Stories that she’s realized the postpartum journey is no picnic either.
“To all the moms I’ve always known: I can not believe I didn’t know what I know now,” she wrote over a selfie of herself in sweats, with her little one strapped to her chest. “YOU ARE ALL AMAZING. TRULY AMAZING.”
Torrey DeVitto Shares What’s Most Surprising in First Weeks of Motherhood
DeVitto also shared a gratitude post on New Year’s Eve, thanking 2024 for its gifts while sharing a photo of her and LaPine cradling their baby girl.
The “Love’s Greek to Me” star wrote, “You turned me 40, turned me into a wifey and a Mom ❤️. There’s no way you will ever be topped, but I am excited to see all the new adventures 2025 has to bring for me and my family of 3. Who knew at 40 I’d be walking into 2025 saying, ‘I’m just getting started.'”
After praising other moms in her first Instagram Story on January 3, DeVitto went on to vulnerably share how she’s been feeling in the weeks since her baby’s birth.
“I’m exhausted,” she wrote as the first of several bullet points. “I still look pregnant … I haven’t figured out how to care for a baby and dress myself while Jared’s at work yet.”
DeVitto then listed several highly-relatable tasks she’s attempting to accomplish as a new mom.
“Trying to do it all and push through discomfort while my body is still healing from an extremely traumatic delivery,” she wrote. “Trying to ask for support while not freaking out that anyone who walks through the door will get my baby sick (flu season 🙄). Wondering how I’ll ever blend my old life with this new life.”
Despite Challenges, Torrey DeVitto Says She’s ‘Obsessed With This Little Girl’
On the same Instagram Story, DeVitto went on to describe the highs and lows of motherhood so far.
“This [expletive] is hard,” she admitted. ‘But I wouldn’t change it for the world! I’m obsessed with this little girl.”
“Becoming a mom is by far the most incredible, connecting, loving, life changing and humbling experience I’ve ever had,” she continued. “We women are MIRACULOUS. I can not believe what my body has done, created and can withstand. It’s just a great reminder to give yourself pats on the back for wins of all sizes and to go easy on yourself. 🤍 one day at a time!”
In a second Instagram Story, DeVitto posted a photo of her and her baby girl, with a heart emoji over her daughter’s face, snuggling in bed.
DeVitto quipped, “And to anyone who ever said being a full-time mom/dad isn’t a real job. You can kindly go [expletive] yourself. This [expletive] is bananas.”
