The Hallmark Channel’s newest movie, “The Wish Swap,” premieres on Saturday February 8, at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The movie stars Emily Tennant and Jake Foy. Read on to learn all about where the movie was filmed and behind-the-scenes stories from the cast.
‘The Wish Swap’ Was Filmed in British Columbia, Canada
According to IMDb, the new Loveuary movie was filmed in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, a town about an hour east of Vancouver. Vancouver was also a filming location, according to Instagram posts from the cast.
MapleRidge.ca shared that movie was filmed November 18-20 and three locations for filming were:
- Chameleon Restaurant
- Witchcraft Beer Market
- 224 Street
Director David I. Strasser took to Instagram to post some behind-the-scenes pictures from the movie, commenting “#TheWishSwap is #COMINGSOON! 🍿🎟️💫”
Strasser also wrote on LinkedIn: “This film was such a joy to bring to life. I had the absolute pleasure of directing and executive producing alongside Joel S. Rice, Michael Barbuto, and the amazing team at Muse Entertainment Enterprises. Brilliantly written by Betsy Morris and produced by Front Street Pictures, this one is truly special. Hope you all tune in!”
The town of Maple Ridge is no stranger to Hallmark movies, with a number of them filmed on location there. The city is located in British Columbia, Canada, in the northeastern part of Greater Vancouver.
Tennant shared a behind-the-scenes reel with some of her favorite filming moments.
Filming in Maple Ridge started in the 1970s when scenes from “Rambo” were shot here. Since then, many movies and shows have been filmed in the city, including “The X-Files,” “Smallville,” “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” and “Stargate SG-1.”
Tennant said the goats in the movie were the “cutest little co-stars.”
Meet the Cast
Hallmark’s synopsis reads “When Casey and Henry celebrate their birthdays at the same restaurant, they make birthday wishes at the same time, which are granted. However, they end up getting each other’s wishes.”
Emily Tennant plays Casey. According to her bio, she played Ivy in “Mr. Young” and voices Polly Pocket in the animated series. Her first role was in the 2000 movie “Personally Yours.” She then had small roles in TV shows and films, including “Kingdom Hospital” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” In 2009, she starred in “Zombie Punch” and won a Leo Award. She also had a recurring role on Hallmark’s “Cedar Cove” and was in the popular “The Wedding March” films for Hallmark. She also starred in “Christmas in Canaan” and “The Game of Love.”
Jake Foy portrays Harry. According to his bio, he’s well known for playing Tuff in “Ride,” King James in “Reign,” and Felix in “Designated Survivor.” His first professional role was in “High School Musical: On Stage!” He studied musical theatre at Sheridan College.
Jake lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
