In a rare reversal, Hallmark is shaking things up for “The Way Home” again. In answer to intense fan reactions, Hallmark has decided to air season 3 of “The Way Home” on television in January after all. The show will also continue to air on Hallmark’s streaming service, Hallmark+. Fans of the show, who lovingly call themselves “Ponderers,” are elated by the news.
Hallmark Made the Announcement in a Surprise Social Media Post
The news was revealed on Friday night, December 13, in a surprise social media post.
Hallmark posted: “Due to overwhelming demand, the entire season 3 of The Way Home will premiere on Hallmark Channel starting Friday, January 3rd at 9/8c and then you can stream it next day on @HallmarkPlus!”
This means, as Variety confirmed, the season three premiere is airing on the Hallmark Channel on January 3 at 9 p.m. Eastern, and then it will be available to stream on January 4 on Hallmark+. After that, every new episode will first premiere on Friday night on the Hallmark Channel, followed by being made available Saturdays on Hallmark+.
This means that season 3 is technically premiering one day later than originally planned. As Deadline reported, the original plan was to debut the season on January 2.

In a public “The Way Home” Facebook group, fans were elated by the news.

One Star Shared a Winking Photo After the News Broke
Chyler Leigh, who portrays Kat in the series, is one of the Hallmark stars headlining this weekend’s Hallmark Christmas Experience, December 13-15.
After the news was announced, she shared a winking photo on Instagram and wrote: “End of night 1 at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in beautiful Kansas City … having a blast meeting our WONDERFUL #TheWayHome fans (more like friends, really). Thank you @hallmarkchannel for having Andie & I ❤️🎄.”
Variety reported that season 3 will travel back to 1974, when Del and Colton first met as teens. And Alice is going to meet a young Evelyn Goodwin, with their friendship causing some complications.
Sadie LaFlamme-Snow, who plays Alice, shared a trailer for season 3.
Variety reported that three new stars will be joining the series.
Julia Tomasone is stepping into the role of a young Del, before she married Colton Landry.
Jordan Doww joins the cast as teen Colton Landry, exploring his backstory.
And Devin Cecchetto has been cast to play the role of a teenage Evelyn.
