When the “The Way Home” wraps up its third season on March 7, 2025, many Hallmark fans want to make sure the consequential episode doesn’t double as the series finale. Multiple petitions have been created, including one that’s racked up over 8,000 signatures, with fans imploring Hallmark Channel execs to bring back the time travel drama for a fourth season.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. In an interview published on March 5, “The Way Home” creators Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke told Collider they’re closely monitoring the petitions and grateful for them, hoping they make an impact on Hallmark execs’ decision making process about the future of the show.
“It’s been so incredible seeing the fan reaction this season,” Clarke told the outlet. “It’s really touched us. They’re putting petitions up… I just think it’s so, so kind and so amazing, and we’re so flattered.”

Hallmark announced “The Way Home” had been renewed for a third season in March 2024, with two episodes still left to air in the second season.
Many fans are growing anxious about the show’s status, given that there’s been no word on another renewal. With mere days to go before the season finale, the number of signatures on the Change.org petition has been rapidly growing.
Fans are also leaving comments on Hallmark’s social media posts about “The Way Home,” begging for a fourth season, including one who wrote on March 3, “I’m not ready for the end 😭. Season 4 please!!”
“I think every little bit helps,” Clarke told Collider. “I can’t imagine that it doesn’t. I certainly have the Change.org page on my phone, and I’m refreshing it all the time to see the number go up, the number of signatures. It’s so lovely, it’s the greatest compliment.”
Conkie added, “The support from the fans right from the get-go has been astounding, and they have caused change in the past, so I think they should keep their fingers crossed that they can cause change now.”
When Hallmark announced its plan to air the third season of “The Way Home” exclusively on its new streamer, Hallmark+, an outcry from fans successfully drove the network to shift gears, airing new episodes on Friday nights that are then available to stream the following day.

“The Way Home” premiered on Hallmark Channel in 2022, with Andie MacDowell starring as Del Landry, a widow whose estranged daughter Kat (played by Chyler Leigh) returns to their family farm as she navigates her divorce, bringing along her teenage daughter Alice (played by Sadie Laflamme-Snow).
Shortly after arriving, Alice discovers a pond on the property that’s a time travel portal, allowing her to visit the past and locate her mom’s long lost brother. The resulting storylines have been full of mystery and romance for three seasons, with fans passionately debating plot twists in online discussion groups.
Ratings for the third season have been varied on the linear cable channel, according to TV Series Finale, but Nielsen ratings don’t include streaming numbers, which Hallmark does not typically release.
On March 1, Brian Bird, creator of Hallmark Channel’s long-running series “When Calls The Heart,” pushed back on claims his series has suffered a ratings drop during its current season. He posted a screenshot from Parrot Analytics on Instagram, which said fan demand for the show has been 22.6 times higher than the average TV series.
“This digital and streaming revolution is changing all the ways in which an audiences for Film and Television need to be measured,” Bird wrote.
Fans can’t wait to see if “The Way Home” season 3 finale which mysteries get answered and whether new doors will open to new storylines. Whatever the case, cast members told SheKnows that reading the script for the finale was incredibly emotional.
“We were a blubbering mess at the table read,” Leigh told the outlet and Laflamme-Snow added that she was “inconsolable.”
