Fans Honor Kris Holden-Ried for His Role on ‘The Way Home’

Kris Holden-Ried of “The Way Home” has just received a major award for his role. He played Thomas on the last two season of the hit Hallmark series. He beat out many other major stars, including Harrison Ford of “1923” and Pedro Pascal of “The Last of Us.”

Holden-Ried Won a Fan-Voted ‘Favorite Performer’ Award

Tell-Tale TV announced that Holden-Ried won their “Favorite Performer in a Cable or Streaming Drama Series” award.

Holden-Ried talked about the honor on his Instagram Story, writing, “Thanks @telltaletv!! So glad you enjoyed Thomas! Almost as much as I enjoyed playing him.”

The award was given after nominations were submitted to Tell-Tale TV and readers voted in three rounds. He beat out Sam Heughan of “Outlander,” who was the runner up.

In the first round, he also competed against Chyler Leigh of “The Way Home,” Caitriona Balfe of “Outlander,” Noah Wyle of “The Pitt,” Helen Mirren of “1923,” Sterling K. Brown of “Paradise,” Pedro Pascal of “The Last of Us,” Bella Ramsey of “The Last of Us,” Nicola Coughlan of “Bridgerton,” Harrison Ford of “1923,” and more.

In round 3, Holden-Ried received 28.38% of the votes, while Heughan received 25.38%.

Fans Said Hallmark ‘Struck Gold’ with Holden-Ried

When the news was shared in a public “The Way Home” fan Facebook group, the post was flooded with congratulations for Holden-Ried.

“Well deserved,” one fan wrote.

“He has been such a wonderful addition to the show. His chemistry with Chyler Leigh is amazing. Hallmark struck gold with his casting. Hoping to see him in season 4,” another fan wrote.

“He truly deserves this award. He brought Thomas Coyle to life and into our hearts,” another fan wrote.

“Kris Holden- Ried has done an outstanding job as Thomas Coyle! Can’t wait to see more of him in S4!!!” another fan wrote.

“So deserving! So wonderful as Thomas! They are adding up! This one’s my favorite so far! Hope the show sees what they have,” another person shared.

And another viewer wrote, “Kris is so deserving of this recognition by the charismatic character he portrayed as Thomas Coyle and the number of fans he pulled into the series The Way Home. Can’t get enough of him and hope to see more of Thomas (Kris) in Season 4.”

This is the second fan-voted award that “The Way Home” has received this week. On June 2, the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television announced that “The Way Home” had won the Audience Choice Award at the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards.
