Sarah Drew Gets Real About Women’s Health: ‘Get Those Girls Checked’

If your scroll feed includes Hallmark and “Grey’s Anatomy’s” star Sarah Drew, who has 4 million followers, then you might’ve recently seen her heartfelt shout-out. Pulling a page straight out of “Grey’s,” she posted a cheeky Instagram of her in what appears to be a clinic, wearing some pink scrubs.

“Get your girls checked, ladies!!,” she said, reminding followers to get their physicals. That’s right, Drew, best known as Dr. April Kepner, is mixing her on-screen doc credibility with real-world advocacy. The star made it a long urge for us all to keep those annuals on the calendar.

Why Sarah Drew’s Message Matters (& Why You Should Act Now)

So who is Drew? Drew rose to fame on “Grey’s,” joining in season 6 and staying a mainstay through Season 14. Unfortunately, she went on to exit the series, despite being a fan favorite, but later returned for guest spots in seasons 17 and 18. She’s since pivoted into writing, producing, and leading new shows. Most recently, she stars in and executive produces “Mistletoe Murders,” a cozy holiday whodunit with a fun sci-fi twist. Initially a Hallmark+ original, now headed for broadcast this holiday season! A plus for all of us Hallmark fans who are obsessed with the network.

It’s safe to say that annual full checkups are essential. Cancer doesn’t wait, and neither should you. So yes, we appreciate Drew reminding her audience by using her social media platforms in any way she can. Think of it as a short, fun, and urgent but grounded message.

Her passion for health awareness runs deeper than a cute post. Throughout her career, she’s mentioned how knowing your family history and following up with your provider is key. Speaking with Go Red For Women this year, she revealed she was the daughter of a heart attack survivor. “It is so important to know your family history so you can discuss your unique risk factors with your healthcare provider,” she told the foundation. The post continued, “Family history plays a powerful role in shaping your risk. While genetics can’t be changed, awareness and proactive conversations with your doctor, combined with a heart-healthy lifestyle, can make a real difference.”

The actress went on to walk in the Red Dress Collection Concert earlier this year in New York to help raise awareness about heart disease and stroke.

So whether it’s heart scans, full physicals, or any vital preventive tests, her call is clear. Treat yourself like the priority you are. It’s not pink ribbons or fear-mongering; it’s Drew, the TV doc-turned-mom-producer, sending a wink and a nudge to all the women out there.

‘Mistletoe Murders’ Secures a Second Season

Hallmark Media has officially confirmed that “Mistletoe Murders” is coming back for a second season. This time, the cozy-yet-creepy holiday drama will reach an even bigger audience. The series, first launched as a Hallmark+ original, will now air on the Hallmark Channel during the 2025 holiday season! Don’t worry, new episodes will stream the next day on Hallmark+.

Drew, who stars as Emily Lane, a small-town shopkeeper with a suspiciously secretive past, will reprise her role alongside Peter Mooney as Detective Sam Wilner and Sierra Marilyn Riley as his teenage daughter Violet. Familiar faces from the first season, including Jean Yoon, Lara Amersey, and Kylee Evans, are also set to return.

Hallmark executives say the blend of festive cheer with mystery proved irresistible for viewers. Jocelyn Hamilton, President of Television at Lionsgate Canada, spoke with Deadline about the exciting renewal, saying, “Hallmark has been an incredible partner in bringing this series to life, and it’s been such a joy collaborating with the talented team at Headspinner Productions. This renewal is a true testament to the exceptional storytelling and talent that have made the show resonate so deeply with audiences.”

A Special Sneak Peek

The upcoming season will continue Lane’s double life as the cheery owner of “Under the Mistletoe,” a year-round Christmas shop in Fletcher’s Grove, who just so happens to get caught up in solving local crimes. Mooney’s Detective Wilner remains suspicious of Emily’s uncanny investigative skills, leaving viewers to wonder if her past holds even more secrets than she’s willing to admit.

Fun fact, Drew also serves as an executive producer. And in case you didn’t know, the show is adapted from the Audible Original series of the same name. It originally starred Cobie Smulders and Raymond Ablack and already has three full audio seasons. That pedigree means there’s plenty of material left to explore, and Drew’s Lane hasn’t even begun to unwrap all the mysteries waiting under the tree!
