Alison Sweeney & Ryan Paevey Unite to Honor Prolific Hallmark Director Ron Oliver

When longtime Hallmark director Ron Oliver was honored by the city of Palm Springs, California, on May 23, 2025, he was surrounded by friends, including two of the actors he’s loved working with over the years — Alison Sweeney and Ryan Paevey, who spoke at the event.

Sweeney, who just filmed two movies in Spain with Oliver, posted an Instagram photo of the trio together and wrote, “What a thrill this morning to attend the ceremony for my friend @ronoliver to receive a star on the Walk of Stars in legendary Palm Springs. Working with Ron on From Barcelona, With Love was a dream. He’s an artist & a gentleman, a talent & the quickest wit in the west. 🌟🎥 Congratulations!!!! 🍾”

Ron Oliver Says Palm Springs Honor is ‘One of the Most Beautiful’ Things to Happen to Him

Oliver, who has lived in Palm Springs since 2003, received the city’s 479th star, placed at 222 S. Palm Canyon Drive, per a press release.

Although his career started out in the horror genre, he eventually discovered a gift for bringing rom-com scripts to life and has directed dozens of Hallmark’s biggest hits, including many filmed overseas, like “The Groomsmen” trilogy with Tyler Hynes, Jonathan Bennett, and B.J. Britt.

In addition to directing Sweeney and Ashley Williams in “Barcelona, Forever” and “To Barcelona, With Love” — both premiering in June — Oliver worked with Sweeney, Lacey Chabert, and Autumn Reeser on four of the “Wedding Veil” franchise movies, per IMDb.

“This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever had happen in my life,” Oliver told local TV station KESQ at the ceremony. “I mean, to be recognized is one thing, but to be recognized in your hometown and a place with people you love, it’s something beyond.”

The director, who speaks of himself in the third person on social media, captioned an Instagram post of photos from the event, “We are still processing yesterday’s events, but suffice to say Sir Ronald will never be able to thank everybody enough for showing up at the Walk of Stars Ceremony, but also for being part of his life. It was a special day, and all the more so because he was able to share it with so many people he loves. Thank you all.”

Ron Oliver Shared in September 2024 How Much He Missed Working With Ryan Paevey

At the time of publication, Paevey had not posted anything about being part of Oliver’s ceremony. But it was likely very meaningful to the director that the Hallmark alum, who’s been on a hiatus from acting since early 2024, was present.

In September, Oliver posted on Instagram for Paevey’s birthday, sharing how much he missed working with Paevey.

“I shall never not miss making movies with this brilliant man,” Oliver wrote at the time. “An artist in every sense of the word, he has been my friend, my co-conspirator and my muse for half a decade and he is the definition of the word ‘leading man’. Plus, when I ride on the back of his motorbike, I always feel like Olivia Newton John.”

The two worked together on Hallmark movies including 2020’s “A Timeless Christmas” and 2019’s “Christmas at the Plaza.” Paevey has hinted at a possible return to the network in recent weeks. On April 29, he shared a photo in his Instagram Stories from outside Hallmark Media headquarters in Los Angeles and has told fans in social media comments that he’s considering a comeback.
