Rachael Leigh Cook, who stars in “Sisterhood, Inc.” on Hallmark, took to social media to gush over a recent encounter she had. Cook met someone she considers a “hero,” and she shared a lengthy post on her Instagram page where she opened up about the experience.
“When I met Betsey, I felt as starstruck as I’ve ever been,” Cook shared of the encounter she had with fashion designer Betsey Johnson.

On June 1, Cook shared a handful of photos on her Instagram page. The first photo showed her hugging Johnson, and both ladies were all smiles. Cook declared that the experience was a “life-highlight of a time.”
She explained she had been invited to an event at Johnson’s showroom that was a gallery party for the designer’s “new foray into painting.” The event, Cook wrote, was “incredible.”
“Meet your heroes, Betsey Johnson Edition,” Cook gushed in the opening of her post caption. She also warned her followers that the caption would be long.
While she admitted she was incredibly starstruck to meet Johnson in person, Cook also noted the fashion icon was “warm, open, engaging and KIND.”
She explained, “As a 90s teen, when it came to fashion I felt adrift as the landscape dulled and the grunge movement set in.”
Cook admitted she would shop at fashion retailers such as Urban Outfitters and feel “confused that I didn’t like anything we were supposed to.” She tended to like vintage fashion, “but it was too polyester and self-aware,” Cook noted.
“I missed the hand-me-down Guess jeans and oversized Esprit bags of my youth,” she quipped. She continued, “It didn’t seem like there was an antidote in sight until I became acquainted with @betseyjohnson’s work,” Cook added.
She touted Johnson’s “joie de vivre, rock ‘n’ roll femininity, and off-the-charts sense of play” that “represented a new dawn to me.”
Johnson inspired Cook to spend the “first real money I ever made” on her designs.
The Hallmark Star’s Post Tickled Fans & Colleagues
Cook’s post received a flood of sweet comments from colleagues and fans alike. Johnson saw Cook’s post and commented, “LOVE YOU.” Cook replied with a string of heart-eye emojis.
Hallmark alum Jen Lilley commented, “You are adorable ❤️❤️❤️❤️ this is awesome! Congrats!”
Someone commented, “Well, call me Julie Andrews because you + Betsey Johnson are a few of my favorite things. 😍”
One of the people Cook credited with arranging the fantastic experience wrote, “So eloquently said! It was a true delight to bring this to life. You’re a Betsey Babe forever! 🩷”
