Fans Lift Up Rachael Leigh Cook as She’s Sidelined by Sickness

After spending much of November 2024 filming her next Hallmark movie, actress Rachael Leigh Cook’s December is off to a far less productive start.

On the night of December 6, the “She’s All That” alum issued “massive apologies” to attendees of GalaxyCon, a pop culture fan convention in Columbus, Ohio, where she was scheduled to appear before falling ill.

In an Instagram post, Cook wrote, “To anyone who planned to come and meet me at GalaxyCon in Columbus this weekend! I HATE flaking but unfortunately I’m just too sick.”

After Cook explained the situation and her doctor’s guidance, fans were overwhelmingly supportive and encouraged her to take it easy.

Rachel Leigh Cook Says She Wishes She Had Backed Out of Event Sooner

Cook, whose post featured a screenshot of black text typed out on a white background, told her followers she had hoped to get better in time to attend the event from December 6 – 8, but her doctors advised her against it.

“Have no voice at all,” she explained. “The Dr gave me steroids, which I just started, but it’s very hard to get out of bed. I wish I could have given notice. It hit suddenly, so I hoped it would pass quickly as well. I do not want to infect you nice people. My sincere apologizes for the inconvenience and hopes for your wellness ❤️R”

Though Cook was clearly worried she’d leave many fans disappointed or upset by her last-minute cancellation, she was flooded with support instead.

“You’re health is what matters most,” one person commented. “Rest up and get better. See you next time for sure 🙌”

Another wrote, “Praying you feel better!!! The person I was planning to come with is sick too.”

“Thank you for thinking of others, and staying home,” someone else added. “Please get well soon. ♥️💜”

Debbie Matenopolous, a former host on ABC’s “The View” and Hallmark’s “Home & Family,” chimed in by writing, “😢so thoughtful of you to post this and let everyone know. You are a good human. Love you lady. Feel better soon xx”

Hours later, Cook replied, “where do you even find the time to be so kind Debbie?? You’re a wonder 💗 lunch in 2025 if this doesn’t kill me please”

Before getting sick, Cook had just wrapped filming her latest Hallmark project around Albany, New York. The movie is called “Like Nobody’s Business,” according to HGB Casting, which helped producers find extras for it.

Little is known about the movie, but the shoot kicked off on November 4, according to siLive.com, and was scheduled to last through November 22.

Cook last appeared on the network in 2023, starring in “Rescuing Christmas,” after a two-year absence from the network. The movie premiered on Hallmark Movies Now, a precursor to the company’s new streaming service, Hallmark+. It’s not clear if Cook’s latest endeavor will wind up on the streamer or one of its cable channels.
