As Hallmark Channel star Nikki DeLoach was zipping around Boston and New York in early July 2025, promoting the network’s Christmas in July movies and shows, a conversation with a cab driver stopped her in her tracks.
“The other day I got into the cab of this incredible man, and he shared his story with me,” DeLoach said in a selfie video she posted on July 10 as she walked down a busy Manhattan street. “Years ago, he had a heart attack. And he survived it, and vowed that every single day, he was gonna live out his purpose in the world.”

After sharing that her cab driver said that he’d determined, following his heart attack, that he wanted to live each day with purpose, DeLoach told fans in her video, “For him, that was being God’s love and spreading God’s love and he would bless everybody that came into that cab — kind or unkind.”
“Because he really believed,” the actress continued, “that those that were unkind probably needed God’s love the most.”
“He talked about keeping a tender and a soft heart,” DeLoach smiled, as she dodged in and out of passersby on the busy street.
“And it reminded me of something that I learned a long time ago,” she continued. “You know, we all have purpose. And it’s not necessarily in the what we do, right? Whether you’re a cab driver or you’re a doctor or a teacher or the incredible woman who gave me my iced matcha this morning who made me so happy! It’s how you do it. It is the how that matters.”
Smiling, DeLoach concluded, “So, we can live out our purpose no matter what we do, right? So keep your heart soft and tender, be love, spread love.”

DeLoach was in Boston to kick off Christmas in July at Fenway Park on July 1 with some of her fellow Hallmark stars, and then moved on to New York, where she did interviews with Wes Brown to promote the new unscripted series “Christmas at Sea.” On July 10, she was also named the co-host of Hallmark’s 2025 Christmas Cruise, alongside her pal Jonathan Bennett.
