Sitcom scene-stealer and beloved Hallmark star Melissa Peterman just added a new podcast to the 3.8 million that already exist in the world. And we already want more.
Titled the “Melissa Peter Man Podcast” to honor the show’s hosts — Peterman, fellow Hallmark actor Peter Porte, and stand-up comedian Chris Voth — the weirdly perfect name that the three friends chose is an accurate reflection of the weirdly perfect insanity that quickly unfolds in the show’s first episode, launched on June 17, 2025. With apologies for adding one more title to your list of must-hear podcasts, here are our top 3 reasons you must tune into this one.
1. The ‘Melissa Peter Man Podcast’ is Like a Zoom Call With 3 Funny, Weird Friends
Yes, the “Melissa Peter Man Podcast” is called a podcast, but it’s not available on audio platforms like a podcast typically is, only on YouTube. That’s a good thing; you want to be able to watch these three musketeers on their split screens. Someone listening to just the audio wouldn’t have the benefit of knowing when Peterman holds up her Bing Beverage, pretending it’s their show sponsor, or when Porte sips non-existent coffee from a Dolly Parton mug.
The show is reminiscent of a Covid-era Zoom call with a trio of funny, slightly stir-crazy friends. Remember those? There was always a ringleader who had an agenda — that’s Voth in this case, trying to keep circling back to how they all became friends — while the others could not care less about staying on topic. Peterman, Porte, and Voth have all worked on sitcoms together, so we love the fascinating behind-the-scenes stories peppered with plenty of ribbing they all sarcastically give and take.
2. The First 5 Minutes Are Completely Bonkers, Including Melissa Peterman Losing Her Power
Right from the start, it seems Peterman, Porte, and Voth likely never chatted about how to host a podcast, which is part of its charm. The first episode opens with a random assortment of conversation topics, including a funny back-and-forth about what to name their show, Peterman’s $296 Costco run, and her new car, including Porte eagerly requesting that she send him a picture of it.
“We’re onto three topics already,” Voth anxiously points out less than two minutes into the show. “We can’t jump around like this!”
And at that moment, Peterman gasps as the power goes out in her house. Porte exclaims, “That’s a sign!”
“If this is my last podcast before the zombies come, it better be good,” she quips.
From there, they keep going off on wild and hilarious tangents. Should flight attendants say “welcome aboard” or “welcome on board?” Voth is amusingly adamant about it needing to be “aboard” and the others agree, though not as vehemently. Also, are there “bubbles” appearing around his face “like a submarine?” This is a real question from Voth, entertained by both Porte and Peterman as if it’s a totally normal thing to ask. They all decide no, that Voth “looks great.”
This is all in the first five minutes of the podcast, folks. They do eventually share fascinating stories of how they all met, including how Porte’s guest role on Peterman’s sitcom “Baby Daddy” turned into a starring role as her husband. But the trio’s ease with each other and sarcastic jabs throughout make for a wild ride and laugh-out-loud moments that keeps you guessing, “where are we going next?!”
3. Peter Porte, Peter Porte, Peter Porte!

Where art thou, Peter Porte?! The third really good reason to tune into the “Melissa Peter Man Podcast” is for that guy in the middle — Peter Porte. Watching him shine, quite literally, made us wonder why in the world he’s not one of Hallmark’s leading men these days.
That’s not to say that his podcast co-hosts are chopped liver. Voth is great at keeping the trio on task and working in dry humor that catches you by surprise. And Peterman is a national treasure (if you haven’t watched her in NBC’s “Happy’s Place” or “Reba” reruns or Hallmark’s “Finding Mr. Christmas,” you have work to do).
But with his modern-day Adonis looks, adorably funny jokes, and — as Peterman put it — his “touched by an angel” lighting, Porte had us totally swooning. The actor has appeared in his fair share of Hallmark movies, including starring roles in 2017’s “Love at the Shore,” 2018’s “Love, Once and Always,” and 2019’s “Rome in Love.”
Porte also co-starred as Luke Macfarlane’s love interest in 2023’s “Notes of Autumn,” but Hallmarkies haven’t seen him since — and we’re hoping “The Melissa Peter Man Podcast” reminds everyone he still belongs in the spotlight at Hallmark, too. But not too much — they still need him smack in the middle of this podcast, too.
