Hallmark star Luke Macfarlane revealed that a premiere date has been set for one of his projects.
The actor’s latest Hallmark project, a home renovation show titled “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” debuted on the network’s streaming service Hallmark+ in March. Now, a new season of one of his other shows is returning to television screens in a few months.
Season 2 of ‘Platonic’ Premieres in August
On May 20, Apple TV+ announced that season 2 of “Platonic” would premiere on August 6. Shortly after the announcement, Macfarlane shared the premiere date via his Instagram Stories.
The pilot episode of “Platonic” aired on May 2023. Rose Byrne plays the character of Sylvia, and Seth Rogen plays Will. Macfarlane’s character is named Charlie, who is married to Sylvia.
The premise of the show revolves around two platonic friends, Sylvia and Will, who reconnect after a rift that occurred years before.
Sylvia reconnects with Will after his divorce, and the two try to repair their fractured friendship.
As TV Insider shared in March, Charlie and Sylvia navigated troubles in their marriage during season 1 of “Platonic.” They reconciled, and Will had moved on with someone new.
Macfarlane told TV Insider that his character will be quite prominent in season 2. “In season 2, my character, Charlie, is having his midlife crisis. It sort of all is catalyzed by a trip to ‘Jeopardy!’ where he is a contestant.”
He noted that they actually filmed on the “Jeopardy!” set, and he met current host Ken Jennings.
Fans Are Excited for Season 2 of ‘Platonic’
A renewal for “Platonic” was not announced until December 2023, and fans have been waiting a long time for it to return. Now, with Apple TV+ announcing an August 2 premiere date for season 2, fans are celebrating.
After his co-star Carla Gallo shared the preview teaser via Instagram, Macfarlane reshared it in his Instagram Stories. “#platonic Season 2 is coming,” he wrote.
Fans of “Platonic” had plenty to say about the announcement on the Apple TV+ Instagram page.
One person wrote, “It’s insane I was literally just about to google when season 2 was coming!”
