Facing some of the “scariest mountain conditions” he’d ever experienced, longtime Hallmark Channel star Luke Macfarlane is back on solid ground after climbing to the highest point in Europe.
On July 3, 2025, the actor posted incredible photos and videos from the trek, which he completed the previous day with a group of adventurers that included his longtime partner, sports agent and former professional alpine skiier Hig Roberts, and mountaineering guide Maksim Sotnik.
Captioning a photo of himself on the mountaintop, up as high as the clouds, Macfarlane wrote, “Three joyful days climbing in the French Alps with @maks_sotnik and @higroberts. We reached the top of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain, yesterday at 7:30am”
Luke Macfarlane Says He ‘Felt Lucky’ to Be Able to Reach Mountaintop
Macfarlane’s post also included a photo of him and Hig smiling and posing at the top of the mountain, another of the two dads (of two-year-old Tess) grinning with Sotnik, and one of Macfarlane with his mouth agape as the blazing sun rose around them.
He also included breathtaking video footage of himself trekking up the steep and snowy mountain amid whipping winds, and slowly rock climbing on jagged and uneven terrain with a rope attaching himself to Roberts in front of him.
“15 hours of breathless, pushing, praying on weather some of the scariest mountain conditions I’ve experienced,” Macfarlane wrote in his caption. “If you had any doubt the glaciers are melting! Thank you @maks_sotnik for helping us up and down safely. We felt lucky to get this little window to reach top for a few minutes.”
Many friends and fans congratulated Macfarlane on the huge feat via his comment section. His “Bros” co-star Billy Eichner hilariously pointed out, “We take very different vacations.”
Macfarlane’s co-star on his Hallmark+ unscripted show “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” designer Olivia Westerbrook, wrote, “That looks amazing and like a ‘oh hell naw’ all at the same time!”
Luke Macfarlane Also Climbed Highest Mountain in the Americas
Climbing Mont Blanc, which is more than 15,400 feet high, is physically demanding and can be highly dangerous depending on conditions. Four climbers were found dead at the peak in September, according to the Independent.
But it’s not the highest mountain Macfarlane has climbed. In 2023, he went on a 14-day journey to climb Argentina’s Mount Aconcagua, which is 22,800 feet tall. He shared multiple posts, including one from the peak, where he wrote that it was “-20 and 50mph,” making it “one of the hardest mental tasks I’ve ever undertaken.”
“At the top the air is so thin that your vision plays tricks on you,” he wrote.
He told Men’s Health at the time, “It’s the highest mountain in the Americas. I’ve climbed mountains before, but this is about a thousand meters higher than any mountain I’ve climbed.”
