Luke Macfarlane Names the ‘Best’ Fellow Actor He’s Ever Worked With

Hallmark star Luke Macfarlane recently opened up about his career in an interview with Gio Journal. Among the highlights Macfarlane shared, fans might be surprised to learn the colleague he deemed was the best he has worked alongside.

Luke Macfarlane Raved Over ‘Brothers & Sisters’ Co-Star Matthew Rhys

Macfarlane noted he has been with Hallmark for over a decade now. “I have made 14 movies, and one of the best things about working with Hallmark is that they grow with you and adapt to you,” the actor shared.

Interestingly, however, the colleague deemed the “best” he’s worked with was not someone from Hallmark. Rather, it was a former “Brothers and Sisters” co-star of his.

He noted that his role and storyline on “Brothers and Sisters” was quite unusual at the time. Macfarlane played the character of Scotty Wandell, who married into the Walker family.

Kevin Walker, played by Matthew Rhys, and Wandell were a married, gay couple on network television during a time where that was still unusual. During the run of the show, the couple went on to pursue having children via both adoption and surrogacy.

Macfarlane looks back at how progressive the storyline was, and he raved over the cast that included powerhouse entertainers like Sally Field, Rob Lowe, Calista Flockhart, and Rachel Griffiths.

“I miss it, and I miss Matthew Rhys, I am not ashamed to say he is, hands down, the best actor I have ever worked with,” Macfarlane gushed.

The Hallmark Star Has Praised Rhys Before

That wasn’t the first time that Macfarlane raved about Rhys. In October 2022, the Hallmark star talked to People and shared similar sentiments.

“Matthew Rhys is truly a gentleman, he really is. He’s one of my favorite actors that I’ve ever worked with. I think that that’s why our storyline connected with people. We just had a great time with each other,” he explained.

Macfarlane also told the media outlet he enjoyed “truly every moment” the two worked together throughout the five-year run of “Brothers and Sisters.”

He noted, “He’s just the kind of actor you want to work with. [He] takes the work seriously, but doesn’t take himself too seriously. He’s great.”

Next up for Macfarlane and Hallmark is a new series titled, “Home Is Where the Heart Is.” As Variety reported, the show will debut on Hallmark+ on March 20. The show will highlight Macfarlane’s skill and passion for woodworking as he works to update a family’s home.
