‘Love in the Clouds’ Was Filmed in New Mexico

“Love in the Clouds” was not only filmed in New Mexico, but it was also written by screenwriter Lisa Hepner, who is from New Mexico, ABQ Journal reported. The movie was filmed in December 2024 in the Albuquerque region.

Hepner told ABQ Journal that this is her first Hallmark movie (which is a dream come true for her) and her first movie set in New Mexico.

“I grew up here and the first thing I thought about was the Balloon Fiesta,” Hepner said. “I couldn’t think of any other films that featured the event. I decided to take advantage and feature Albuquerque. From the Balloon Fiesta to El Pinto to the tram, there are a lot of Albuquerque landmarks.”

Hepner said they had to re-create the Balloon Fiesta for the movie, with vendors and globitos, along with using footage from the Balloon Fiesta itself.

“There were a lot of challenges and we were able to make this all happen,” she said.

Accoridng to 4Filming.com, some of the filming locations included the the Albuquerque International Sunport and the Sandia Peak Tramway.

Greene took to Instagram to share his love for the movie and reveal that he composed his own song for the film.

He wrote: “I had a high-flying time filming this one with the amazing McKenzie Westmore, and I even wrote a brand-new original song just for it: ‘Love Is in the Air.’ You’ll hear it in the movie, and trust me—it’ll lift your heart like a hot air balloon at sunrise.”

While Westmore was on the set, she had the opportunity to visit the Sandia Mountains, at the Sandia Peak Tramway, and posted a picture about it, where she commented: “Being part of this magical process is a blessing, and I’m soaking up every second.”

She also shared her new look, just for the movie.

“🌟🎬 There’s something magical about being on a set where every day feels like an adventure and not a job,” she wrote.

She also posted a behind-the-scenes video, writing: “Ever wondered what it feels like to stand beside a hot air balloon? I did and let me tell you, it’s a breathtaking experience.”

“🎥✨ Pinching myself because I still can’t believe I get to work on this incredible film!” she wrote in another post.

Koppany Pusztai, an actor in the film, posted on December 19: “That’s a wrap 🎈 I am so grateful for this incredible experience! Thank you to the cast, crew, our amazing director and producers for their hard work! I’ll be flying high on the memories and the connections I have made for a very long time!🙏🏻”

Alexis Zollicoffer, who also starred in the film, posted a few behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram along with the comment: “I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew. This group of people. What an absolute joy to film alongside them. I could gush for hours about them. May we all work together again. Please universe. I hold them all so dearly in my heart.”
