How does a rom-com queen spend Valentine’s Day? Showered in roses, dripping in diamonds and dining on caviar? Quite the opposite, says Lacey Chabert, who has starred in more than 40 Hallmark movies.
Fresh off her latest Hallmark rom-com, “An Unexpected Valentine,” Chabert’s been busy creating adorable Valentine’s gifts for her daughter’s teachers and classmates, while looking forward to a cozy night in with her family.

As Chabert promoted her Valentine’s movie co-starring Robert Buckley, she told Swooon that the way she celebrates the holiday has changed through the years. Chabert married husband David Nehdar over a decade ago and they have an eight-year-old daughter, Julia, who’s now part of the festivities.
“I feel like my husband and I used to have very elaborate Valentine’s Day plans,” Chabert told Swooon. “I’d get an outfit. It was a whole fun romantic evening planned.”
“And now we’re parents, and I think it’s probably very relatable,” she continued. “We have an eight-year-old daughter, so now our Valentine’s nights are usually family movie night and not as grand as maybe they used to be, but they’re absolutely perfect.”
But before laying low at home, Chabert has been busy spreading the love to others before the holiday. Her penchant for creatively celebrating special occasions — which landed her a Hallmark+ series, “Celebrations With Lacey Chabert” — was on full display in Instagram videos she shared ahead of Valentine’s Day 2025.
On February 12, Chabert shared a how-to video of her creating and wrapping gifts for Julia’s teachers, including a little bathtub filled with pampering products. The following day, she shared another video of the red Valentine’s boxes she and Julia created for classmates, complete with glittery heart stickers on the outside and mini stuffed toys tucked inside with a card.
Many fans and friends were floored by the elaborate crafts including one who wrote, “OMG this is deluxe! I want to be in that class!”
Lacey Chabert Makes Rare Comments About Her Relationship With Husband
Though Valentine’s Day may be low-key for Chabert, that doesn’t mean it will be without romance. She rarely talks about her husband, but told Swooon that she has come to appreciate the little things from him.
“I feel like what makes me swoon has changed through the different phases of life,” she laughed. “Now some days it would be, ‘Oh, you did the dishes!’ It’s the small things! You know, bring me a cup of coffee.”
Chabert continued, “I’m not even kidding, my husband will be like, ‘Your car was on empty, I ran out and gassed your car up.’ Especially when you’re late for work, and to not have to think about it? So, like, it really is the little things.”
Of course, “romantic gestures” are still “always welcome and always wonderful,” Chabert noted. “But I think us especially, we’ve been married 10 years now, in marriage it’s just knowing that we see each other. It’s feeling acknowledged and feeling appreciated and just feeling that love. It’s so genuine, I’m so grateful for it.”
