Lacey Chabert Recalls ‘Really Hard’ Goodbye: ‘We Cried’

Hallmark star Lacey Chabert knows how to turn on the waterworks for a role, but recently, she recalled a real-life cry session that was quite difficult.

The star of “A Royal Christmas” and “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert” star shared her story while doing a panel at 90s Con, and People relayed the highlights.

Chabert talked about the teary moments while answering fan questions at the fan event held in Hartford, Connecticut. She noted that the emotional moment involving the cast happened when the “Party of Five” cast and crew finished the series’ final scenes.

“I thought it was a really nice way to end the show and I remember we did that take [and] they call, like, ‘That’s a wrap,’ and we just all burst into tears and we hugged and we cried,” Chabert recalled.

She added, “We stayed there for a really long time because it was, it was really hard to say goodbye in that way.”

“Party of Five” starred Chabert as the second-youngest sibling in the Salinger family. The siblings lost their parents in a car crash, and the oldest sibling, Charlie Salinger, played by Matthew Fox, took over caring for his younger siblings.

The show also starred Neve Campbell as Julia Salinger, Scott Wolf as Bailey Salinger, and there was a baby sibling younger than Chabert’s character of Claudia, too. The show aired on Fox from 1994 to 2000.

Jennifer Love Hewitt also had a role on the show as Sarah Reeves Merrin, Bailey’s love interest.

People noted that the series ended by bringing all five Salinger siblings together again in their childhood home. Although they had grown and gone to live their own separate lives, they spent a night together in the house where they stayed after their parents died.

Chabert praised the “Party of Five” writers during her appearance at the Con event. “I have to say the writing on the entire show all six years was so incredibly special.”

The final moment of the series involved the Salinger siblings gathered and looking at growth chart markings that remained on one of the walls. Chabert’s character commented after lookiChabert felt it was “such a sweet line.”

She added, “I’m so grateful to our writers… It was such a sweet line.”
