Lacey Chabert’s latest Hallmark project debuted on February 1 and fans have loved it. “An Unexpected Valentine” stars Chabert and Robert Buckley, and the plot provided something different that she could not resist trying.
Chabert admits she “fell in love with the script” and decided she could not pass up this opportunity.
Lacey Chabert Hadn’t Done a Valentine’s Movie in a While
On February 1, Southern Living shared some great tidbits from Chabert about what attracted her to the Valentine’s film.
“I hadn’t made a Valentine’s movie in a minute and I fell in love with the script,” Chabert revealed. She continued, “I love the idea that it takes place in one night. Which is an interesting way to film. Only one costume for the entire movie which was such a treat.”
Chabert loved the script and loved how the timeline was structured, but that wasn’t all she loved about her experience creating “An Unexpected Valentine.”
She explained, “I think when we’re having fun on set, which is almost always, it really translates, especially in a movie like this.”
Chabert also revealed, “I was really happy that they gave us the freedom to ad lib. We had a wonderful script and when there were times and moments that were unexpected, those were also really fun to play.”
Fans Loved ‘An Unexpected Valentine’
Ultimately, Chabert shared, “I just love these types of rom-coms. I love these types of love stories. It’s about people connecting and I think sometimes when it’s not forced and you aren’t expecting it, that’s when the magic sometimes happens.”
Buckley recently revealed his love for teasing Chabert with new nicknames. It seems Chabert enjoyed the dynamic they developed as much as he did.
She told Southern Living, “Robert Buckley was wonderful to work with. So talented. So funny. And he was a wonderful scene partner. We had a blast.”
Fans fell in love with the story just as Chabert did.

“An Unexpected Valentine” airs again on Hallmark on February 15, and it is also streaming on the Hallmark+ platform.
