Kimberley Sustad Reveals Struggles With ‘Imposter Syndrome’ & Overcoming Her Worries

Kimberley Sustad has become a beloved Hallmark staple, acting and writing in numerous network projects over the past decade. However, It might surprise some fans to learn she is not always confident about her abilities to entertain viewers.

Sustad recently admitted she struggles with “imposter syndrome” and has faced “fear and panic” in producing content Hallmark fans enjoy.

Kimberley Sustad Hesitated to Consider Herself a Writer

On December 12, Us Weekly shared tidbits from their interview with Sustad. She co-wrote the 2022 Hallmark hit “Three Wise Men and a Baby” with Paul Campbell, and the duo teamed up again for the new sequel “Three Wiser Men and a Boy.”

After the success of the 2022 movie, Sustad struggled. “I’m like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, I’m not a profesh writer,'” she said she felt at the time.

Soon after the initial movie’s success, Sustad and Campbell were tasked with creating a sequel. She said she was hesitant and felt “fear and panic” over the task.

She worried she wouldn’t be able to create magic again with the second movie. Sustad felt that then everyone would “know” she wasn’t truly a writer.

Luckily, Sustad was pleased with the movie, believing the sequel was ultimately “better” than the first film.

Us Weekly noted that when they visited the set of “Three Wiser Men and a Boy” during filming, Sustad got real about her struggles.

“I have been worried for so long — talk about not feeling like you’re enough, you know, having imposter syndrome. That’s me writing these movies.”

She added, “I sort of fell into it and I hate being thrust into the limelight and ‘Three Wise Men’ kind of did that.”

Hallmark Fans Have Loved Her Latest Projects

Despite her previous lack of confidence in her writing, Sustad admits now she loves both acting and writing. She shared, “I can’t decide which one I like better now especially when it’s what you envisioned.”

Her current situation with Hallmark plays a big role in her love for it, though. “I really like the collective project making because we’re dealing with the producers and the director every day and working stuff out,” she explained.

In addition to co-writing and appearing in “Three Wiser Men and a Boy” for the 2024 holiday season, Sustad also starred in Hallmark’s “The Santa Class.”

“The Santa Class” debuted on December 14 and is slated to air several more times throughout the rest of the holiday season.

The initial airing of “The Santa Class” earned rave reviews from Hallmark fans.

“A wonderful movie. Of course I enjoy everything Kimberly stars in,” one Instagram user gushed.

“Any movie you are in, I watch. You are one of my very favorite actresses,” commented another fan.

Someone else added, “Fun movie! Very entertaining! Kimberly is the bomb as usual!”
