Longtime Hallmark star Kayla Wallace can hardly believe her good fortune. The “When Calls The Heart” star shared multiple social media posts on March 12, 2025, as the news broke that her other job, co-starring on the highly acclaimed Taylor Sheridan “Landman,” will continue for a second season.
Wallace took time away from WCTH to film the first season of “Landman,” but has since appeared in several episodes during seasons 11 and 12. Her Hallmark colleagues shared how thrilled they are for her that “Landman” has been renewed.
Over 35 Million Viewers Have Watched the ‘Landman’ Premiere
The first season of “Landman,” a drama about the West Texas oil industry, premiered on Paramount+ in November and quickly became the streaming platform’s best debut in two years, according to Deadline. According to Paramount Global, the premiere episode alone has been watched by a whopping 35 million viewers.
Even so, fans have been awaiting word since the show wrapped in January on whether the star-studded show would get a second season. Wallace plays tenacious big city lawyer Rebecca Falcone, who’s hired to investigate messes complicating the oil company that Billy Bob Thornton’s character works for.
In one of three Instagram posts on Wallace’s feed celebrating the second season renewal, she wrote, “SEASON 2! This dream continues on 🥰.” She also shared one of her posts in her Instagram Stories and added, “pinch me pinch me pinch me.”
Wallace’s longtime colleagues and friends at WCTH, where she’s played Fiona Miller since 2014, were equally thrilled for her, leaving celebratory comments on her posts.
Lead actress Erin Krakow left three emoji — “🎉💕👏🏼” — and WCTH newcomer Tiera Skovbye left five applause emoji: “👏👏👏👏👏”
Andrea Brooks wrote, “Yesssssssss!!!! 🔥🔥🔥”
Johanna Newmarch commented, “OH HELL YESSSSS!!!!🔥🔥🔥”
Wallace’s husband, Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan on “WCTH,” didn’t comment but liked his wife’s posts. The couple married in 2024.
Hallmark Fans Hope Kayla Wallace Will Also Continue on ‘When Calls The Heart’
Wallace was able to make a surprise return as Fiona in the season 11 finale of “WCTH,” in part because the 2023 writers’ strike allowed her time to visit the set after the show received special permission from SAG-AFTRA to continue filming.
Wallace has appeared in a couple of episodes of season 12. Hallmark fans have been vocal about hoping she’d continue to be part of the cast in a part-time role.
On January 19, she told Soaps: “I’ve never closed that door (on returning). It’s such a big part of my life. My husband is still very much on that show. It’s funny, I’m around the cast a lot, so it never felt like a goodbye, and I hope it’s never a goodbye.”
