Jonathan Bennett Gets Honest About Christmas: ‘I Just Can’t Do It’

Jonathan Bennett is a regular in Hallmark Christmas movies. However, fans may be surprised to learn he approaches the holiday season differently at home.

As the Hallmark actor and season 19 “Dancing with the Stars” alum recently explained, there is a good reason why he did not get into the Christmas spirit off-camera this year.

Jonathan Bennett Has Been ‘Covered in Tinsel’ for Half the Year

On December 14, Us Weekly shared the scoop from Bennett. He admitted when it comes to exuding lots of Christmas spirit in his personal life this holiday season, he is a bit resistant to it.

“I’m going to be honest, I don’t decorate for Christmas,” he revealed.

It’s not that Bennett dislikes the holiday season. He noted that he spends so much time filming in preparation for the Hallmark Christmas season, he’s over it when it actually arrives at home.

“By the time Christmas gets here [this year], I [will] have shot ‘Finding Mr. Christmas,’ ‘Christmas on Cherry Lane,’ a sequel to another Christmas movie I can’t talk about and a Christmas movie for next year,” Bennett explained.

He added, “I’ve been covered in tinsel for six months out of the year!”

As a result, Bennett admitted, “This year I’m just going to not decorate because I can’t. Just can’t do it.”

The Actor Can’t Face Doing the Decorating Himself

Bennett may not feel up to decorating personally, but he did have an idea pop into his head as he talked to Us Weekly. He decided he could potentially tap the “Finding Mr. Christmas” crew to do the decorating for him.

“I have 10 elves that will come over and decorate for me,” Bennett decided. He declared he would turn it into another “competition.”

He teased he’d tell the group, “You’re going to decorate Jonathan and Jaymes’ house. You have 30 minutes to go!”

As Us Weekly noted, Bennett developed the idea for the show “Finding Mr. Christmas” himself. He frequently had friends ask for help getting a foot in the door at Hallmark, and that led to the show concept.

“I started thinking, since I’m such a reality show fan, I was like, ‘What if we gamified the way in which we make an actor a Hallmark star?'”

Bennett is not exaggerating when he says he’s a reality television show fan. Not only did Bennett do “Dancing with the Stars” in 2014, but he also has hosted Food Network’s “Cake Wars,” “Halloween Wars,” and “Battle of the Decades,” along with a few other reality television shows.
