Jodie Sweetin Branches Out With ‘Intense’ New Drama

Longtime Hallmark star Jodie Sweetin is known for her lighthearted roles as a beloved “Full House” alum and more than a dozen rom-coms and cozy mysteries. But on June 21, 2025, Sweetin will delve into a much more serious starring role, in Lifetime’s “Dateless to Dangerous: My Son’s Secret Life.”

In an interview published on June 7, Sweetin told People, “I believe it will be an interesting thing for people to see me do something a little different — not one joke in it.”

Jodie Sweetin Says New Lifetime Role is ‘Pretty Intense’

Sweetin told People that her new movie is “about the radicalization of young men online right now.” According to a Lifetime press release, she plays the mom of teen siblings Miles and Haley, played by Alexander Elliot and Nikki Roumel, per Lifetime.

Lifetime’s logline for the movie says Sweetin’s character, Noelle, who’s newly separated, “works tirelessly to provide for her family while adjusting to their new reality. In an effort to bond with her brother, Haley coaches Miles through his romantic pursuits, only for him to face public humiliation.”

“As sibling tensions rise,” the synopsis continues, “Noelle begins to notice troubling changes in her son – anger, isolation, and hostility toward her, Haley and friends at school. After yet another crushing rejection, Miles spirals into the toxic world of incels—a dark and shadowy online underworld that fuels his growing resentment. As he slips further into darkness, Noelle and Hayley must race against time to save him, desperate to reach him before he’s consumed completely.”

Sweetin, who has two teen daughters — Beatrix, 14, and Zoie, 17 — called her dramatic role “a fun opportunity” and told People, “When I read the script, I was like, ‘Oh, this is for real, for real.’ So, yeah … it’s pretty intense.”

Lifetime’s “Dateless to Dangerous” premieres on June 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Jodie Sweetin Has Also Loved Playing Hallmark’s Jane Da Silva, Fighting for ‘People Who Didn’t Have a Voice’

Although not quite as intense as her latest Lifetime role, Sweetin has delved into more serious subject matter in her most recent Hallmark movies, starring as Jane Da Silva in “The Jane Mysteries” franchise opposite Stephen Huszar.

The first movie, “The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost,” premiered on Hallmark Mystery in 2023, introducing Hallmark fans to her new character — a singer who inherited her family’s non-profit detective agency. Huszar plays Detective John Cameron, who winds up helping as Sweetin’s character dives into unsolved mysteries.

Three more “Jane Mysteries” premiered on Hallmark+ in 2024 and debuted on Hallmark Channel in the spring of 2025. In October, Sweetin told First For Women that one of the things she loves about her character “is that she goes back and fights for people that didn’t have a voice or the resources and got overlooked.”

It’s not clear if additional mysteries will be added to the franchise. The first four “Jane Mysteries” are available to stream on Hallmark+.
