Jodie Sweetin Still Has Hugs for Controversial Co-Star

Hallmark star Jodie Sweetin recently opened up about the dynamic she maintains with former co-star Candace Cameron Bure. The two entertainers grew up together while filming “Full House,” but more recently, they have found they have significantly different viewpoints on many topics.

During the April 28 episode of “The Vault” podcast, Sweetin explained how she manages the situation. “The Jane Mysteries” star noted she will “be nice, but I will not be quiet” when it comes to standing by her opinions, even when they contrast with those of Bure.

Jodie Sweetin Says She & Candace Cameron Bure Exist in ‘Different Worlds’

During the podcast, Sweetin touched on the fact that she and Bure have very different opinions on some big topics. Sweetin is a vocal ally of the LGTBQ+ community.

Bure, on the other hand, was open in noting amid her move from Hallmark to Great American Family that she wanted to continue making movies featuring “traditional” marriages.

Sweetin noted during her podcast appearance, “You know what’s funny is that we never actually got into it… She posted a sort of her viewpoint, and I posted mine. And we’ve always been very different on those things.”

Now, Sweetin believes, “I think it was just that now all of that sort of comes to the surface more.”

Sweetin acknowledged that she and Bure have “lived very different lifestyles” and “just exist in sort of very different worlds.” Despite that, Sweetin noted, “She is still someone I’ve known since I was five years old.”

“It’s like family members. Maybe we don’t talk all the time — and I know if politics come up, it is not going to go well — but I don’t hate you,” Sweetin added.

She continued, “I am not going to not hug you, but I’m also not going to not keep my mouth shut. … I’ll be nice, but I will not be quiet.”

Fans Applauded the Hallmark Star’s Responses

“The Jane Mysteries” star believes that she has a responsibility to do something important with “whatever gift I’ve been given of people paying attention” to her.

“For me, something important is looking out for my queer siblings that I love and the family that’s out there.”

After hearing Sweetin open up on “The Vault” podcast, many took to Reddit to share their thoughts. The Hallmark and “Full House” star received a great deal of support.

“Jodie is so well spoken and classy. The last sentence is perfect,” one fan wrote in the “Full House” subreddit.

“Jodie continues with her absolute queen behavior,” another commented.

“This is 100% an on-brand response from Jodie. I admire how strong she is in her convictions, and she knows how to address everything with class and intelligence. I’ve always been a fan, but my love for her just continues to grow,” someone else shared.

“It’s been really amazing to see Jodie Sweetin clean herself up and pull back from addiction and reveal herself to be so cool and smart,” another Redditor shared in the Pop Culture Chat subreddit.
