Hallmark Alum’s New Role Will Give True Crime Fans Chills

A former Hallmark star has a new project debuting on television soon. This one provides an enticing tie back to one of her first big hits. Jennifer Love Hewitt, who starred in Hallmark’s “The Lost Valentine,” is known by many for the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” movies.

Now, Hewitt is doing a show for Investigation Discovery that follows a somewhat similar theme.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Narrates ID’ ‘A Killer Among Friends’

On June 19, The Hollywood Reporter shared details on Hewitt’s upcoming project. “A Killer Among Friends” premieres on July 14, and Hewitt is an executive producer for the six-episode docu-series.

Hewitt also narrates the series.

“Sure, you can trust your friends, but I wouldn’t,” Hewitt says in a new sneak peek of the series.

In the original “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” Hewitt played the character of Julie James. She and three other friends accidentally hit a man on a dark road one night, and he died.

The group of friends worked together and covered up the accident, hoping to move on without anyone knowing what happened.

However, a year later, the teens are eerily reminded of what happened by an anonymous man who threatens them.

The New Series Highlights 6 Murder Cases Involving Groups of Friends

The Hollywood Reporter indicates that “A Killer Among Friends” highlights six different stories of friends tied together by a murder case.

Hewitt shared, “‘A Killer Among Friends’ offers a unique opportunity for me to draw from my own work as an actress, as we blend together a kaleidoscope of perspectives to tell each of these tragedies that deeply impact group dynamics and shatter beliefs.”

Entertainment Weekly shared the official description for the series. “The six-part series will explore a group of interconnected individuals who are collectively haunted by a murder of one of their own, serving as the catalyst to unravel secrets, suspicions, and betrayals between friends. Amidst the hunt for a killer, no one is entirely certain who they can trust… or if another member of the friend group might be next.”

Cases highlighted in the series include the 1994 murder of college football player Trent DiGiuro, UCLA student Ron Baker, and Cal State Fullerton alum Michele Carson. Other episodes will focus on the deaths of Connecticut teen Maryann Measles, Wisconsin’s Jessie Blodgett, and California’s Elyse Pahler.

The show premieres on Monday, July 14. Episodes will air on Mondays, and become available on HBO Max to stream the next day.
