Among all the stars in Hollywood for the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025, real-life Hallmark Channel couple Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace dazzled on the red carpet at Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party.
The couple, who met filming Hallmark’s “When Calls The Heart” and married in 2024, have made multiple red carpet appearances during awards season, thanks to Wallace’s high-profile role in Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman.” But the Oscars affair was likely the most star-studded of them all.

Wallace wore a low-cut, creamy sequined dress with spaghetti straps, designed by Magda Butrym, the actress shared in her Instagram Stories on March 3. The revealing gown featured an open back and side slit up to Wallace’s thigh. She complemented her dress with jewelry by Nina Runsdorf.
McGarry and Wallace looked at ease together, smiling as he kept his left hand at her back. She shared several glimpses into her and McGarry’s night via her Instagram Stories. In one, she shared a view of her glam squad getting her ready for the evening and wrote over it, “Getty ready for #EJAFOscars party with this dream team.” Wallace tagged hairdresser Michael Duenas and makeup artist Kirin Bhatty.
In a second Story, Wallace shared a mirror selfie at the party with McGarry, who’d shaved his recent beard but was sporting a moustache.
Wallace then shared a video of the two of them in the audience as John and Chappell Roan performed her hit song “Pink Pony Club.” McGarry also shared a video from the party in his Stories, capturing Wallace enjoying watching the two pop stars sing together onstage.

EntertainmentNOW/GettyWallace’s “WCTH” character, Fiona Miller, has only appeared on a handful of episodes over the last two seasons of the popular series, given her filming and promotional schedule with “Landman.” McGarry, meanwhile, is one of the show’s leads, playing Erin Krakow’s love interest and Hope Valley mountie Nathan.
Though McGarry and Wallace met on the show, he revealed during an appearance at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in December that they were close friends for two years before things turned romantic — but only after she’d turned him down a couple of times.
“We met on the show,” he recalled. “The best thing that show has given me is Kayla. I remember her coming out of her trailer. She was on the show actually just before me, I believe. And I remember going to set, meeting everybody. I didn’t know who she was or what she was doing there. And she came out of her trailer and it was just like, cherubs are flying around and doves and I was like, ‘Who is this woman?'”
“I think two years went by and we became really close friends,” McGarry said. “And then I asked her out. She said no and made me work for it.”
