Hunter King to Join Cast of CBS Sitcom: ‘Someone Pinch Me!’

Former “Young & the Restless” actress and current Hallmark Channel star Hunter King is still trying to process the news she just landed her first network primetime show.

“Crying, screaming, throwing up,” she hilariously wrote in an Instagram post on February 12, 2025. The post featured screenshots of Deadline’s article announcing the casting for a spinoff to CBS’s hit series “The Neighborhood.”

King, who starred in Hallmark’s biggest movie of 2024 with Tyler Hynes — “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” — has been cast alongside Justin Long, Kara Royster and Angelique Cabral, Deadline reported. They’ll all guest star on the season 7 finale of “The Neighborhood,” setting up an offshoot storyline with two of the show’s regulars to pique viewers’ interest in a possible spinoff series.

In her post, Hunter thanked CBS and the show’s producer, Aaron Kaplan, “for this amazing opportunity. This cast is unbelievable and I feel so lucky to get to act along side of them. AHHH someone pinch me!✨❤️”

‘The Neighborhood’ Spinoff Would Air During 2025-2026 TV Season

After King and her new castmates appear in “The Neighborhood” season finale this spring, CBS will decide whether it’s moving forward with the spinoff series, Deadline reported. But given the extent to which the new show has been plotted out, getting the green light sounds highly likely.

Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney, who play brothers Marty and Malcom Butler on “The Neighborhood,” would move onto the spinoff, according to TV Line. In January, the outlet reported that CBS was developing an offshoot to “The Neighborhood” in which the Butler brothers would leave the home where they live with their parents, played by Cedric the Entertainer and Tichina Arnold.

According to CBS’ synopsis, the spinoff would follow the brothers as they “start the next chapters of their lives, finding themselves the newcomers in a neighborhood that’s both close by yet worlds apart: Venice Beach.”

Hunter will play a “dark, sardonic” character named Bellamy, per Deadline, who’s “often under the influence of edibles.” Her character’s description goes on to say, “Bellamy works generating content for the coolest cannabis boutique in SoCal. Despite her jaded outlook, she’s also hilarious, fun and a fiercely loyal friend. Bellamy does have secret dreams of doing something bigger, but for now, she’s content in her carefully curated world of detachment and irony.”

This won’t be King’s first series; she starred as Summer Newman on “Young & the Restless” from 2012–2016 and again from 2018–2022, according to Daytime Confidential. Since leaving the soap, she’s starred in seven Hallmark movies, per IMDb, including “Hidden Gems” with Beau Michoff, “Nikki and Nora: Sister Sleuths” with Rhiannon Fish, and “The Santa Summit” with Benjamin Hollingsworth.

Hunter King’s Had a Monster Year Including Getting Engaged

News of King’s casting on “The Neighborhood” spinoff comes on the heels of a jam-packed year that included filming and promoting the heavily buzzed about “Holiday Touchdown” movie and getting engaged to filmmaker Chris Copier in October.

King and Copier met in early 2022 while filming the independent movie “Give Me Your Eyes,” according to Just Jared. King starred in that movie, and Collier was on set as the first assistant director. A year later, per the outlet, the two started dating.

King said during an appearance on “Today With Jenna & Hoda” in November, “He was my first AD (assistant director) and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s cute.’ I had to talk to him.”

Copier has worked behind the scenes on many movies as an assistant director, including on “Holiday Touchdown.” The couple also just wrapped filming a thriller called “Don’t Move,” in which King co-stars with fellow Hallmark star Lyndsy Fonseca.
