Hallmark star Holly Robinson Peete shared a touching note on social media after the world learned of the heartbreaking death of “Today” co-host Sheinelle Jones’ husband.
Jones had been away from “Today” in recent months. On May 23, fans learned why. Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, died after quietly battling Glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer.
Holly Robinson Peete Holds the Jones Family in Her Heart
Peete, the star of Hallmark’s “Hats Off to Love,” posted a loving comment on Jones’ Instagram post shortly after the news emerged of Ojeh’s death. Peete also created an individual post on her own Instagram page to further share the message.
On May 23, Jones posted a video from “Today” where the co-hosts shared the news of Ojeh’s death. Jones wrote, Thank you, for all of your love and support.”
Peete commented on the post shortly after it went live. She wrote, “Dear Sheinelle, I am heartbroken to hear of your loss. Please know that Rodney & I are holding you and your family close in my heart during this unimaginable time.”
Her comment continued, “Your husband’s love and light will live on through the beautiful life you shared.”
Peete added, “I pray you find strength in the love that surrounds you and comfort in the memories you hold dear.”
“With deepest sympathy and all my love, Holly. 🙏🏽” Hundreds of people “liked” Peete’s comment to echo her sentiments.
The Hallmark Star’s Followers Loved Her Graceful Tribute
Within a few hours, several hundred people commented on Peete’s Instagram post to add their own messages for Jones and her family.
Fellow Hallmark star Kimberly Williams-Paisley commented with a trio of broken-heart emojis. Many fans relied on emojis to signal their love and support as well.
One fan commented, “I was so sad to hear this this morning. You always say the right thing at the right time. Shows what a caring generous person you are @hollyrpeete.”
Singer India Arie wrote, “💔 phew. and TY for posting this … I wouldnt have seen it otherwise.”
Another fan noted, “This is so sad. 😢 She got married the same year I did. My condolences.”
Someone else added, “Hard to watch: he was much younger than me. Holly, you are a class act.”
In January, Jones shared a post on Instagram where she acknowledged her absence from “Today.” “Hi everybody … I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show,” she wrote.
Jones continued, “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.” She noted, “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me.”
