The Hallmark Channel’s newest movie, “Happy Howlidays,” premieres on Saturday, December 21, at 7 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central. The movie stars Jessica Lowndes and Ezra Moreland. Read on to learn all about where the movie was filmed and see behind-the-scenes moments from the cast.
‘Happy Howlidays’ Was Filmed in Canada
Featuring the winner of “Finding Mr. Christmas” on Hallmark+, this Countdown to Christmas movie was shot in Vancouver, Canada, the Vancouver Sun reported. Users on Reddit say that it was also shot in New Westminster, a nearby city, including at a pier that is popular in the neighborhood.
Jessica Lowndes posted a video with one of her co-stars on Instagram, writing: “Starting your morning with a dose of cuteness overload 🐾✨ Our movie ‘“Happy Howlidays’”’ starring this handsome guy airs on @hallmarkchannel December 21st! 🐶🎁🤩 It also features my brand new Christmas song— music video coming your way very soon! 🎄🎶”
For another video, she wrote: “Meet Jordy, who stars as ‘Russell’ in my new @hallmarkchannel movie ‘Happy Howlidays’! 🐶 He’s an absolute superstar! Don’t miss it next Saturday, 12/21 on Hallmark. Plus, my new Christmas song ‘You (Only Gift)’ is featured in the movie and available now wherever you stream music! 🎶🎄”
In another post, she shared: “Running lines on the set of Happy Howlidays – meet Mia and Max. 🥰🐾🎄 Who’s counting down the days?.”
She introduced the winner of “Finding Mr. Christmas” — and her co-star — in another post.
She wrote, in part: “Meet my new leading man… Mr. Christmas! 🎄 He’s not an actor by trade (he was in the Navy) but earned his part by winning Hallmark’s first-ever reality competition show @findingmrchristmas landing himself a leading role in a movie!!! I can confidently say he’s one of the best humans I’ve ever worked with and has one of the kindest hearts! He absolutely crushhhhhhed it and our movie ‘Happy Howlidays’ 🐶 premieres next Saturday, December 21st, on @hallmarkchannel! 😁 SO proud of him and feel very grateful to have been a part of this iconic experience!”
Lowndes also wrote her own song for the movie.
She shared a lot of behind-the-scenes content in this next post, writing: “Behind the scenes of my holiday music video shoot for my new song ‘YOU’—dropping tonight at MIDNIGHT! 🎶😁 You’ll also hear it in my upcoming @hallmarkchannel movie Happy Howlidays, starring this handsome fella 🐶 and the winner of @findingmrchristmas. 🎄”
In another post, she revealed that part of the movie was filmed on a boat. And in a different post, she bragged about her very talented canine co-star.
“We even got him a tuxedo and gave him a side part 😂🤣” she wrote.
Moreland also took to Instagram and wrote: “From my first ever acting experience on @findingmrchristmas to now filming a movie for the first time, this has been one of the wildest and most beautiful experiences of my entire life! I had no idea that this much energy and passion and focus is required from every single individual involved while making a movie! We can’t wait for you to watch it 🍿”

Mia (Lowndes), a meticulous webpage editor for the Seattle Tourism Board, finds herself unexpectedly navigating the holidays alone. As the only one working, she’s drawn into an unusual encounter when she encounters a stray dog. Unsure how to handle the situation, she crosses paths with Max, a dog shelter owner. Mia agrees to let Max’s ailing dog find solace with her newfound companion, in exchange for Max showing her the hidden gems of Seattle. Through their journey together, they both step out of their comfort zones, discovering new perspectives and forming a meaningful connection.
Jessica Lowndes is Mia. According to her bio, she’s an actress, singer, and songwriter. One of her most notable roles was Adrianna Tate-Duncan, a troubled teenager, on the CW show “90210.” It was originally a three-episode arc, but she stayed on for five seasons because of her character’s appeal. Some of her other credits include “A Harvest Homecoming,” “I’m Glad It’s Christmas,” “Deadly Midwife,” “Harmony from the Heart,” “Angel Falls Christmas,” “Mix Up in the Mediterranean,” and more.
Her single “Silicone in Stereo” released in 2014 and peaked at number 35 on Billboard Canada’s Top 50 and number 65 on the U.S. Top 100. She wrote a new song for “Happy Howlidays.”
Ezra Moreland, the winner of “Finding Mr. Christmas,” is Max in the film. According to his bio, he tears up when he gets the chance to spend the holidays at home with his family, and still has fond memories of Christmas growing up as a child. Through high school he swam and played football competitively, and then joined the Navy as a rescue swimmer. After being in the Navy for six years, he began to pursue a modeling career. Now he lives in San Diego with his brother, Jet. His stint on “Finding Mr. Christmas” was his first time acting.
