Hallmark just made a surprise announcement that viewers weren’t expecting to see on a Thursday evening. The network’s official social media channels broke the news that “The Way Home” has been renewed for a fourth season.
The News Was Shared in a Video by Chyler Leigh & Andie MacDowell
The news was dropped via a video shared on Hallmark’s official accounts on Facebook, Instagram and X. You can watch the Instagram announcement here.
Andie MacDowell (Del) and Chyler Leigh (Kat) made the announcement in the video.
“We could not be more excited to bring you more romance, family drama, and mystery,” MacDowell said on the video, after she and Leigh announced the exciting news. “And of course, time travel.”
‘The Way Home’ Will Return in 2026
They also revealed in the video that the series would return for its fourth season in 2026.
They didn’t share an exact premiere date, but it’s possible the show will return in January of 2026. Season 1 premiered on January 15, 2023, and season 2 premiered on January 21, 2024. Season 3 premiered on January 3, 2025, after some dramatic changes in the schedule.
On November 25, 2024, Hallmark announced its original plan: that the show would premiere on January 2, 2025, exclusively on the paid streaming service Hallmark+. Then they planned to air the season on the Hallmark Channel sometime later in the fall. However, fans were upset by the plan and petitioned and e-mailed Hallmark, asking to return the show to TV like the first two seasons.
And because of fan demands, Hallmark changed its mind. On Friday night, December 13, in a surprise social media announcement, Hallmark posted: “Due to overwhelming demand, the entire season 3 of The Way Home will premiere on Hallmark Channel starting Friday, January 3rd at 9/8c and then you can stream it next day on @HallmarkPlus!”
Fans were overjoyed by the news.
Now, the show is rapidly approaching its season 3 finale, which airs on Friday, March 7. And it sounds like it’s going to be an emotional one.
When asked about their reactions to the finale, Sadie Laflamme-Snow said that she “could not stop crying.”
In an interview with TV Line, the showrunners indicated the same. Heather Conkie teased: “[It’s] probably one of the most emotional in the entire history of the show. We’re very proud of it… We can honestly say it answers a lot of questions.”
