Rising Country Star & Hallmark Actress Grace Leer Gets Engaged: ‘Happiest I’ve Ever Been’

After years of writing love songs perfect for other people’s weddings, country singer and Hallmark actress Grace Leer will finally get to walk down the aisle herself.

On June 29, 2025, Leer — who co-starred in and wrote music for 2023’s “Time For Her to Come Home For Christmas” — shared a series of photos from her engagement on Instagram, revealing how shocked and thrilled she was as Nashville real estate investor and developer Tyler King got down on one knee.

A top 10 finalist on “American Idol” in 2020, Leer wrote, “6.28.25 🥂In my home state, on Hole 18 overlooking the ocean, I said YES to forever with my best friend. Happiest I’ve ever been and the ugliest I’ve ever cried.”

Grace Leer Thanks Fans ‘For All the Love’ After Engagement

Friends and family gathered to witness the surprise proposal outside the Ritz-Carlton resort in Half Moon Bay, California, not far from where Leer grew up. She shared multiple photos and posts from loved ones in her Stories, including writing over one montage of pics, “Still floating from the best day of my life.”

Leer also wrote “sobbing again” when she shared a touching Story that her future mother-in-law posted, which said, “Yesterday I watched my son ask the love of his life to marry him and I couldn’t hold back the tears. @graceleermusic you are everything I prayed he’d find — kind, strong, genuine and have a heart of gold! You’re not just the woman he loves, but the daughter I’ve always dreamed of! 💖”

On June 30, Leer posted a Story with a selfie video from the car as she and King — whom she was thrilled to call her fiance — drove to Pebble Beach for a round of golf.

“I wanted to hop on here and we just want to say thank you,” she said, giggling as she noticed her dazzling engagement ring in the camera view. “There’s so many sweet comments we’re reading and we’re trying to get to and soak it all in. And just still processing all the things. We just want to say thank you to everyone for all the love. We love you guys.”

King blew a kiss to the camera and Leer laughed, “Did you just blow a kiss?”

Grace Leer & Tyler King Briefly Broke Up in 2024

The comment section of Leer’s engagement post was flooded with well-wishes from fans, including many who noted that they were thrilled she’d found her “best friend for life.” Weeks after Leer appeared with Chris Carmack and Shenae Grimes-Beach in “Time For Her to Come Home For Christmas,” she went viral for her song “Best Friend for Life” in January 2024.

She wrote the touching song for her for her best friend, and a video of her singing it at her wedding reception suddenly blew up on TikTok, receiving millions of views. She recorded it as a single and it’s become an anthem at countless weddings since.

But Leer and King’s engagement almost didn’t happen. It’s not clear exactly when the duo started dating, but after several years together, they broke up in the spring of 2024. Although King had a frequent presence in her social media posts, fans began to notice he was no longer appearing and Leer wanted to be honest about how sad she was with the situation.

In a social media video on May 28, she shared a clip of a new breakup song and wrote over it, “I usually show a really positive side on my socials but I always want to be honest with y’all. I needed to write this song to get me through a recent breakup and I hope it helps some of you who are still healing like I am.”

But by September, Leer posted that she was on a vacation in Aruba with King’s family. When someone commented that they must’ve missed them reuniting and that she looked “so happy,” Leer replied, “very happy 🥰.”
