Erin Cahill Reveals Miraculous Way She Landed New Hallmark Movie, ‘Journey To You’ (EXCLUSIVE)

With more than a dozen Hallmark movies under her belt, actress Erin Cahill is always happy to be offered a new role with the network. But her latest, playing a woman who finds love during a soul-searching expedition in Spain, felt especially heaven-sent.

Premiering on April 19, 2025, “Journey To You” gave Cahill the chance to walk parts of the famed Camino de Santiago, a centuries-old spiritual trek that leads to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the Galicia region. She told EntertainmentNOW that the experience was extremely moving, from the day she was offered the role to the weeks she spent filming on sacred ground.

Erin Cahill Says Offer to Star in New Movie Felt Like a Stroke of ‘Divinity & Magic’

Cahill received the offer to star as Monica in “Journey To You” while visiting friends and family in the U.K. with her husband, musician Paul Freeman (a.k.a. Welsh Wolf), who hails from there.

“The morning I got the offer, we were in London visiting two of our friends,” Cahill told EntertainmentNOW. “They were like, ‘Let’s meet up (again) this summer.’ We were like, ‘Oh my gosh, let’s do it!’ And I go, ‘Guys, let’s meet up in Spain. It’s been on my heart, and I’ve always wanted to go.'”

“That was a Friday morning,” Cahill recalled. “And that night I got the offer! I was in a pub in London, and I just started crying and, like, jumping up and down. Talk about, like, divinity and magic.”

For Cahill, filming the movie felt as magical as the day she got the offer to star in it, telling EntertainmentNOW that the experience “was even better than I imagined.”

Once Cahill arrived in Spain along with her co-star, Hallmark newcomer Erik Valdez, she was blown away by the centuries-old pilgrimage and said, “Every day I was like, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you, angels, thank you. I mean, I cried, literally — teared up or cried — almost every day. It was just so incredible.”

Filmed for Hallmark’s Dayspring brand, which focuses on stories of faith and spiritual growth, “Journey To You” follows Monica, who’s missed out on a promotion at work and “reluctantly walks the Camino de Santiago at the urging of her mother,” per Hallmark’s synopsis. From writing in a devotional journal to opening her heart to people she meets, the adventure changes Monica’s life for the better.

Cahill told EntertainmentNOW she hopes the movie serves as reminder to viewers that “happiness is, you know, really internal” and not “defined by external measures.”

“I hope that people get reminded to, you know, take a breath,” Cahill continued. “And, you know, maybe journal, maybe get inspired to take some time and reflect. I hope they will, you know, feel grateful for this precious life.”

Cahill also hopes viewers will pick up on the good vibes between her castmates and crew, noting that the vast majority of people who worked on the movie were Spanish.

“This crew of people were so loving and community driven,” she told EntertainmentNOW. “The Spanish culture is so communal, if you think about it — it’s all about being together.”

“It was just so many dreams come true,” Cahill added. “I’m so grateful.”

Hallmark Channel’s “Journey To You” premieres on April 19 at 8 p.m. Eastern time and will be available to stream via Hallmark+ the following day.
