Erin Cahill’s Husband, Musician Welsh Wolf, Vulnerably Asks Fans for Help With Huge Goal

Longtime Hallmark Channel star Erin Cahill is her husband Paul Freeman’s biggest fan. But on July 3, 2025, she needs her fans — and music fans everywhere — to get behind the indie musician, who goes by the stage name and musical alter ego Welsh Wolf, and help him reach the final round of Global Citizen’s “America’s Next Top Hitmaker” Contest.

Cahill shared a video from her husband via her Instagram Stories, urging people to watch his urgent request, in which he said, “I’m feeling really vulnerable, actually, saying this but I really need your help.”

Voting ends on July 3 at 9 p.m. Eastern time. At the time of publication, Welsh Wolf was in third place. While supporters can cast one vote for free by logging into Facebook, they can cast more votes by making a small donation toward Global Citizen’s mission of ending extreme poverty — a cause close to Cahill and Freeman’s hearts.

Paul Freeman & Erin Cahill Will Make ‘Large Donation’ to Building New School if Welsh Wolf Wins Global Citizen Contest

In his July 2 Instagram post, Freeman told his fans, “It’s scary to ask for help but those who know me know I love a good charity gig and we are ALL global citizens!! Thank you a billion to everyone who’s voted so far you are amazing, let’s see if we can get this over the line and raise some money while we do!!”

Cahill and Freeman have built five schools in third-world countries with the nonprofit organization BuildOn, including in Senegal in early 2025. So they love that by rallying support for Welsh Wolf through Global Citizen’s contest, they’re also raising funds for families in need around the world.

The winner of the “America’s Next Top Hitmaker” competition will receive $50,000, appear in Rolling Stone magazine, and get to perform at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City.

Freeman told the organization that if he wins, “My wife and I are currently raising money for another school so my first thought would be to make a large donation towards that project. After that, I would invest some of it into the development of myself and another Artist I work with. I feel so grateful to be involved with the community work that I do and to be able to do it because of music is such an incredible gift.”

Erin Cahill Calls Her Husband the ‘Love of All My Lifetimes’

Cahill, who grew up in Virginia, and Freeman, who is from Wales, U.K., have been married since September 2016 and now split their time between Los Angeles and Nashville.

Freeman told Nashville Voyager that he left home as a teen, moved to London, started and a band and was signed to Boy George’s record label. After releasing a couple of albums, he wound up in Los Angeles when he signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music, writing for multiple artists, and eventually signed a deal with legendary producer Clive Davis.

But after that deal expired and Freeman began longing to spread his wings creatively, he came up with the idea for his musical alter ego, Welsh Wolf, he told the outlet.

“It’s not for the faint of heart,” he said. “To sing your own music is probably the most vulnerable of art forms as it truly comes from within you. To stand on a stage and bare your soul like that can leave you very open and not everyone can do it.”

Welsh Wolf’s six-track debut album, “A Voyeur’s Dream,” was released on June 6. Cahill has enthusiastically promoted its release, as well as the launch party they held in LA and other performances, always happy to cheer on her hubby.

In April 2024, to celebrate Freeman’s birthday, she wrote in a sweet Instagram post that he was “the love of all my lifetimes,” adding, “Every day with you is a gift. We have grown so much together and individually, and being on this journey with you has been better than I could’ve dreamt.”
