An alum from “Dancing with the Stars” and Hallmark has revealed a new project she has been working on, and it plays into a big passion of hers. Danica McKellar is releasing a new book and its cover was just revealed.
McKellar competed on season 18 of DWTS and starred in “Crown for Christmas” as well as several other projects for Hallmark. She’s known for portraying Winnie Cooper in “The Wonder Years,” but McKellar also earned a mathematics degree from UCLA.
Since then, McKellar has written a handful of math books targeted at helping children embrace math for themselves. Her new project is titled “I Love You 100,” and while it is about math, it’s also about unconditional love.
She shared that she aims to help children create “a happy, safe association with numbers that will ripple into their future, helping to strengthen the next generation’s relationship — and success — with math. It’s never too soon to start!”
Danica McKellar’s Book Is Personal for Her
On February 10, People shared the first look at the cover of McKellar’s new book. She also shared the news on her Instagram page.
McKellar explained, “It teaches how to count to 100, while providing a beautiful opportunity to express unconditional love to the child in your life.”
She explained that the cover art is “sort of” an illustration of her with her son Draco when he was younger. McKellar also shared that “This book is incredibly special to me.”
People noted the book is geared toward children between the ages of 4 and 8. The story follows a mother and her son as they spend a day with one another, and along the way, the mother counts all the reasons she loves her son.
McKellar told People the concept of the book was based on a game she played with Draco when he was little. “We would count to 100 together, alternating numbers and saying ‘I love you’ each time.”
Fans Loved the Announcement
“I took the opportunity in this book not only to teach kids how to count to 100, but also to demonstrate a mother’s unconditional love to her child — no matter what the child’s mood,” she added.
Fans raved over McKellar and her news on her Instagram page.
