Inside Hallmark Channel’s Gorgeous Celebrity Luncheon to Launch Connie Britton’s Series, ‘The Motherhood’

Days before Hallmark Channel births actress Connie Britton’s new unscripted series “The Motherhood,” the network hosted a star-studded luncheon on May 1, 2025.

The private event, held at Glasshouse on the Park in New York City, overlooking Bryant Park, was attended by a slew of stars including Hallmark fan-favorites Wes Brown and Ginna Claire Mason, as well as many of Britton’s celebrity friends, from actress Camryn Manheim to designer Nicole Miller. The guest who got the most attention, though, was Britton’s longtime beau, over their rare display of PDA.

“The Motherhood” is Britton’s first unscripted series, which she developed based on her own experience as a single mom to her 14-year-old son Eyob (nicknamed Yoby). The show premieres on Hallmark Channel on May 5 and in each episode, Britton works with her village of experts — a home design specialist, a parenting coach, and style expert — as they provide a deserving single mom with a wardrobe update, parenting guidance, and a revitalized living space.

Connie Britton gave a toast to guests at “The Motherhood” luncheon including Wes Brown, Ginna Claire Mason, and Padma Lakshmi on May 1, 2025.

Seated at long, elegant tables full of fresh flowers, guests at the special event were treated to a live trio of musicians and a menu — shared by New York influencer Nelly Moudime — that included a grilled peach and blackberry glaze salad, a grilled chicken paillard for the main course, and macarons for dessert.

Hallmark execs and Britton, 58, spoke to the attendees, and the actress raised her glass to “community and love,” the themes of her show, as seen in a video shared by NBC News correspondent Chloe Melas Mazza.

Other celebrities who turned out to celebrate Britton and her castmates — designer Angela Rose, parenting coach Destini Davis, and stylist Taryn Hicks — included “Sex and the City” creator Candace Bushnell, actresses Carla Gugino and Mariska Hargitay, designer Cynthia Rowley, lifestyle expert Sandra Lee, and TV host Padma Lakshmi.

“We found these incredible women that I call the neighbor ladies on the show, and they are just so spectacular,” Britton told People at the event. “They’re who you want to be your best friends. And so all of those things brought together this incredible sense of community and understanding and lifting up for single moms, which was always my intention.”

Though the luncheon was all about “The Motherhood,” Britton also made headlines with a rare appearance by her boyfriend, TV writer and “This is Us” producer David Windsor, and their sweet kiss at the event.

According to People, the couple has been together since 2019 but have kept their relationship relatively quiet. Windsor kissed Britton before she spoke to the attendees, People reported. The couple was last seen together at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, according to E! News.

In January 2023, the “Nashville” alum told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show, “I walked into his party and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t know a single soul. I’m talking to my friend and he looks past me and he sees David across the room and he is like, ‘There’s someone here you have to meet.'”

The two didn’t sit at the same table that night so they didn’t get to meet, she said, but Windsor got her number and called the next day.

“I have an amazing man in my life now,” she told Cohen adding that “he is definitely stepping into that more paternal role” with her son.

“The Motherhood” premieres on May 5 at 8 p.m. Eastern time and will be available to stream on Hallmark+ the next day.
