Former Hallmark star Cameron Mathison shared a touching message to honor his mother’s birthday several years after her death. The post comes less than a month after the “Hannah Swensen Mystery” alum lost his home to the California wildfires.
Cameron Mathison Misses His Mom ‘More Than Words Can Say’
On February 3, Mathison posted a sweet tribute to his mother in an Instagram Story. The photo he used showed his mother posing with his son and daughter when they were young. All three had big smiles on their faces.
“Thinking of you today on your birthday mom,” Mathison wrote. He added, “Miss you more than words can say…And everyday.” He also included a couple of heart emojis.
Given how young his son and daughter looked, it appeared the picture was snapped more than a decade ago.
The actor regularly posts tributes to his mom on days such as Mother’s Day, her birthday, and the anniversary of her death.
When his mother died in October 2021, Mathison noted in an Instagram tribute that she was “the center of our family with so much love and devotion for all of us.”
Mathison shared, “You were there for me in my absolute toughest times, and celebrated all my successes with so much love and enthusiasm.”
The Hallmark Alum & His Mother Battled Cancer at the Same Time
Also in an October 2021 Instagram post, Mathison revealed his mother had been diagnosed with brain cancer just months into treatments for his own 2019 cancer diagnosis.
In sharing a photo of his mom with him at the hospital, he wrote, “I love this photo of my mom supporting me through my cancer journey back in 2019. Four months later she would be diagnosed with Brain Cancer and she is still fighting hard.”
In the caption of that post, he added, “Seems fitting I’m in Florida visiting her when I got the news that my 2 year cancer check up came back totally clear.”
Mathison had renal cell carcinoma. In the years since the diagnosis, Mathison has kept the cancer at bay. Sadly, his mother was unable to experience the same results with her brain cancer.
After losing his family’s home to a wildfire, Mathison grieved the loss of so many photos and family mementos. He grabbed what he could while evacuating. However, in the days after the loss, he found it difficult to sleep as he realized how many precious items were left behind.
Luckily, Mathison still has digital versions of some of his treasured photos, like the ones he’s shared of his mother.
