Cameron Mathison’s Dating Life Since Announcing Divorce: ‘I Went a Little Crazy’

Cameron Mathison is dating and “meeting people,” but there’s no one special in his life right now. That’s what the former Hallmark star told Jeff Lewis on July 10, 2025, during an appearance on his SiriusXM radio show.

Cameron, 55, said on “Jeff Lewis Life” that after he and his wife of 22 years, Vanessa Mathison, announced their split in July 2024, he dove right into the dating pool, but he admitted he wore himself out.

“The truth is, I’m slowing down big time,” Cameron said. “When I was first single, I kind of went a little crazy out there in the dating world.”

Cameron, who appears as Drew Cain on “General Hospital” and in movies for Great American Family, coyly told Lewis he’s collected some “interesting stories” from his dating escapades. But he is focused lately on figuring out how to move forward after losing his family’s home in January’s Los Angeles wildfires — a situation that he said has further complicated his and Vanessa’s divorce proceedings.

Cameron has spoken glowingly of his ex since their split, especially since losing their family’s home, where they had lived for 15 years.

In March, he told E! News, “In a way, this challenge and trauma brought us super close. It was a way to move on and be there for each other. She and I only really knew what each other were going through, so it was very valuable for both of us. I literally couldn’t have gone through this without her.”

Cameron had still been living in the home while Vanessa stayed in a nearby apartment they owned together, he said on “Jeff Lewis Live.”

His plan, he said on the show, had been to buy out Vanessa’s share of their home and eventually pass it on to their kids — Lucas, 22, and Leila, 19. But that all changed with the fire, which destroyed everything on their property except for Cameron’s 20-year-old car and his cold plunge machine, he said.

Cameron said the financial aspect of their divorce should be “very simple,” telling Lewis, “She gets half of everything and some alimony.” However, losing so much in the fire and navigating insurance coverage for it all has complicated things greatly, he said.

“We hadn’t gone through that financial deal yet,” Cameron said of the home buyout. “So, Vanessa owns, obviously, still 50% of the house. And so that’s an added complication that she’s obviously getting half of whatever insurance that we had.”

Cameron Mathison Opens Up About Why Marriage Fell Apart: ‘Obviously Painful’

When Lewis and his team asked Cameron when he knew that his marriage to Vanessa was not going to work anymore, he tiptoed around the details for the sake of their kids.

“I didn’t really, naively maybe, I didn’t really notice that things were kind of going, heading south,” he admitted. “So, I was a very, very devoted, committed, you know, loyal husband for a very long time. And it was, um, for me, she was my person and the love of my life. And we had an amazing time.”

“And then things shifted towards the end,” Cameron continued, “and, you know, different things happened. And at the same time, you know, we learned a lot and it was obviously painful after such a beautiful marriage.”

“And our kids were, I think, probably a little surprised by things kind of deteriorating,” Cameron told Lewis. “But, obviously, stranger things have happened, and I am talking carefully because I don’t want to kind of get into specifics. But ultimately, like, I’m so grateful for my time with her. Like, I learned so much in (our) relationship.”
