Brooke Shields just turned 60-years-old, but it seems she’s already giving thought to her Will. And surprisingly enough, the actress and model says when it comes to her jewelry collection, only ONE of her two daughters will inherit it!
Shields shares daughters Rowan Henchy, 22, and Grier Henchy, 19, with husband Chris Henchy.
In an interview with Only Natural Diamonds, Shields says only her youngest, Grier, will be inheriting her diamond collection.
“Only my younger daughter,” she laughed, explaining, “My older daughter has lost every piece I’ve ever given her. I literally cannot do it again.”
Shields says Grier intuitively grasps the deeper significance behind jewelry’s craftsmanship and legacy. “She understands the difference between real and ‘real’,” Brooke said. “It’s not about the gold or diamonds alone—she sees the history, the workmanship, the story behind the institution of these houses.”
Brooke Shields Shared Love of Diamonds With Late Mother
The love she and daughter Grier share over diamonds is one Brooke Shields first developed with her late mother Teri, who passed away in 2012.
“My mom always said, ‘Buy yourself your own diamond—don’t wait to be given one from a man,'” Brooke explained. “My mom bought me my first emerald-cut diamond. It’s very beautiful, and I got it set in a Verdura cuff.”
Brooke shared that she has many fond memories of traveling the world with Teri, who was also a model. And wherever they went, the pair would always buy jewelry.
“Ever since I was a little girl, every time we’d go somewhere, we’d find a jewelry store—if we were in Asia, it was pearls; if we were elsewhere, it was diamonds or brooches,” Brooke recalled. “Maybe it’s because she grew up in Newark during the Depression era, in poverty, and jewelry represented what she aspired to have in life.”
Brooke Shields Celebrates 60 With Body Positive Photos
Whether it’s diamonds or bikinis, Shields is making it clear that she’s tired of apologizing for much of anything, whether it’s a love of fine jewelry, or just aging.
In an Instagram post on her birthday, the former Hallmark actress posted photos of herself in a black bikini, writing, “Woke up today in paradise… and in a new decade of life! This is 6️⃣0️⃣! Thank you for all of the birthday love 🩵☀️🎈🏝️”
Brooke is an outspoken champion of being allowed to age gracefully. In fact, she’s written a book titled, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old.”
In an interview with “Good Morning America,” the actress and model talked about growing older. She said the book’s message for women is “that this period of their time over 40 is a wonderful time, and it’s all about you. You’ve earned it, and it’s your turn to feel really, really supported by yourself and good about yourself.”
And that includes feeling good about treating yourself to special jewelry. “I’m very attached to jewelry and diamonds,” she told Only Natural Diamonds. “When you’ve worked hard, you’re not waiting to be validated—you do something for yourself. There’s a sense of empowerment in that.”
