Hallmark Hunk Brant Daugherty Obtains Dual Citizenship in Italy

A month before the United States celebrates its Independence Day, Hallmark Channel star Brant Daugherty got to celebrate another national holiday — but for the other country he’s now a citizen of, Italy. On June 2, 2025, Daugherty revealed on social media that he was “celebrating my first Festa della Repubblica as an official Italian Citizen.”

The “Trivia at St. Nick’s” star posted a photo with his wife, Hallmark screenwriter and actress Kim Daugherty, and wrote, “Five years ago, we started a journey to seek out dual citizenship and learn more about my Italian family and heritage. Along the way; I visited my family in Italy for the first time, showed my kids their ancestors’ country and got to meet with the Italian Consul General in Los Angeles.”

Daugherty continued, “Very grateful to my lovely wife @kimdaugherty_ for spearheading this whole thing and getting us in touch with a side of my family I’d never explored. I love that we get to share this with our sons.”

Fans Celebrate Brant Daugherty’s Dual Citizenship

Fans filled the comment section of Brant’s June 2 Instagram post with notes of congratulations about his dual citizenship, and many of them wrote their messages in Italian.

One wrote, “Buona festa della Repubblica anche a te 😊😊” — which means, per Instagram’s translation — “Happy Republic Day to you too 😊😊”

The “Joyeux Noel” actor, who was born in Ohio, responded in Italian — “Grazie mille! Anche a te” — which, translated to English, means “Thank you so much! To you too”

Another fan chimed in, “Amazing!! That connection to your family is a gift!”

In July 2023, the Daughertys shared pics and videos from a trip to Italy they took with their young son Wilder, born in March 2021. Their second son, Aero, was born in December 2023.

Brant & Kim Daugherty Spent Italian Holiday at Los Angeles Event

The Daughertys spent Festa della Repubblica, held to commemorate the day in 1946 when Italy voted to become a republic, at an event held by the Consulate General of Italy at the luxurious Casa Lago in Beverly Hills, California.

Brant included photos from the event in his social media post and wrote, “Thank you to @italyinla for including us in the celebration. Buona Festa della Repubblica a tutti!”

The event’s guest of honor was fellow Italian American and late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who also obtained dual citizenship in 2025, according to L’Italo Americano.

The outlet reported that, during his remarks, he joked to the audience, “My beloved grandmother, Edith, used to say to me, ‘Hai il cervello di un criceto.’ I don’t know what it means, but she said it to me all the time.”

After a ceremony featuring Kimmel and other speakers, guests watched a fashion show, dined on food from Eataly, drank wines from an Italian importer in LA, and enjoyed Patrizia Pasqualetti’s artisanal gelato, per L’Italo Americano.
