Best Andrew Walker Hallmark Movies: Our Top 5

Hallmark star Andrew Walker is returning to our TV screens this Saturday, March 8, with a new movie called “The Reluctant Royal.” So of course, it seems like the perfect time to put together a list of our top 5 favorite Andrew Walker Hallmark movies.

But making this list is easier said than done, since of all of Walker’s movies are so outstanding. To make things simpler, we decided not to include his mystery franchises, “Curious Caterer” and “Wedding Planner Mystery,” even though they’re both so good. And we’re leaving out “Three Wise Men & a Baby” (and its sequel) because it made our top 5 list of Tyler Hynes movies last week.

So now without any further preamble, here’s a look at our pick for Andrew Walker’s Top 5 Hallmark movies.

1. ‘My Christmas Family Tree’

At the top of our list is “My Christmas Family Tree,” starring Walker, Aimee Teegarden and James Tupper. The 2021 movie has a unique storyline and features a beautiful story about found family. Some of the scenes are so heartfelt and so well-acted, they’ll bring tears to your eyes.

A public Facebook group with more than 100,000 members held a poll to discover viewers’ all-time favorite movie from 2021, and this one got second place right behind “Five More Minutes.”

In a discussion in a public Facebook group, one person wrote that this is a movie that makes them cry every time they watch it. In a different discussion, one person shared: “What an incredibly moving, heartwarming movie. I love it… I strongly recommend that if you have not watched this movie you do so to see its twists and turns.”

2. ‘Christmas Tree Lane’

Christmas Tree Lane,” the 2020 movie starring Walker and Alicia Witt, makes our top 5 list because the two stars are absolutely perfect together. The movie is about a music store owner who spearheads a community effort to save a street from demolition by a big real estate company. But she’s shocked to find out that the man she’s falling for is also the man heading the charge. While the movie does feature some common Hallmark tropes, there’s a reason these themes are repeated so frequently. When done right, like in this movie, they’re very enjoyable to watch.

In a discussion in a public Facebook group, one person wrote: “This movie is fantastic. I watch it all the time it’s on. I hope they have it on again.” And another person added, “This was an outstanding movie! Andrew looked so handsome in this movie and Alicia was just gorgeous, radiant actually. The story line was wonderful it made me happy and nostalgic but also sad for what actually once was in many places in our country. Would love to live on Christmas Tree Lane!”

3. ‘The 27-Hour Day’

This 2021 movie stars Walker opposite Autumn Reeser, who is always a delight to watch. The two are perfect together in a sweet movie about the importance of finding a work-life balance. (Which is easier said than done.) In this film, it’s Reeser who’s the business guru entrepreneur, and Walker who’s helping her find her zen.

In a discussion in a public Facebook group, one person wrote: “This movie was Autumn Reeser’s baby and when it was ready to be filmed, Autumn Reeser said in an interview that Andrew was her first choice to be her co-star. So glad she did! They were perfect together!”

4. ‘Christmas Island’

This 2023 Hallmark Christmas film is just too cute. Starring Rachel Skarsten opposite Walker, this is a “stranded in a snowstorm” story that really hits home. Skarsten’s a pilot who is forced to land in a holiday-themed location called Christmas Island. The diversion threatens her chances of getting her dream job, but everyone who’s forced to step back and take a break learns a valuable lesson about what’s important in life.

In a discussion in a public Facebook group, fans noted that one of the things they love about the movie is how funny it is.

One person wrote, “I loved this movie and it was among my favorites this season. (And there were many good ones).”

5. ‘A Safari Romance’

I love all of Hallmark’s safari-themed movies, so of course “A Safari Romance” had to make the top 5 list. Starring alongside Brittany Bristow, this movie is about a wildlife biologist teaming up with a theme-park designer (against her better judgment) to create a new safara attraction.

Filmed in South Africa, this movie featured lush landscapes and beautiful wildlife shots.

In a discussion in a public Facebook group, one person wrote at the time of the movie’s premiere: “This movie feels like it’s captured all of the magic, the chemistry, and the character depth that I haven’t been feeling in a lot of recent HM movies. This is a very, very refreshing film and we’re loving it!”

And another person commented, “We need more movies like this, a far cry from those boring ‘office, you’ll get a promotion’ ones. More ones with kids and interesting stories that aren’t so much alike. The ones with beautiful scenery and animals!!”
