‘When Calls The Heart’ Star Ben Rosenbaum Posts Hilarious Deleted Scene: ‘Enjoy the Cringe’

Longtime Hallmark star Ben Rosenbaum isn’t afraid to look bad to do good. While supporting a charity close to his heart, Rosenbaum promised that if his fans and friends raised $15,000 for the National MS Society, he’d publish an unaired scene from his series, “When Calls The Heart.”

On March 18, 2025, Rosenbaum kept his promise by posting a hilarious clip of himself, playing his character Mike Hickam as he showed off his subpar dance skills. To make sure the scene saw the light of day, he said his co-star Kevin McGarry tipped the scales to move the needle over the $15,000 mark.

Celebrating that feat — and his character’s two left feet — Rosenbaum captioned the video by writing, “you did it!!! Special thanks to birthday boy @kevin_mcgarry_w for donating today to get us over the line, and to @hearttohearties@podcast_suspendersunbuttoned for the incredible push to reach this extended goal.”

“This deleted clip never made it to the music stage,” he continued, “hence the silence on the dance floor, but I think that only adds to the hilarity. Enjoy the cringe and thanks again!!!!”

Hearties Crack Up Over Ben Rosenbaum’s Deleted Dance Video

In the deleted scene from the fourth episode of season 12, Hickam is seen awkwardly dancing alone on the dance floor at a birthday party for 17-year-old Allie, thrown by Hope Valley teacher Elizabeth Thornton, played by Erin Krakow, Rosenbaum’s real-life love.

While she stares wide-eyed at Hickam dancing and McGarry’s character, Nathan, tries to get him off the dance floor, the teens in attendance are all shown trying not to laugh as Hickam kicks his legs and reveals he has zero rhythm. His awkward moves were made all the funnier by the fact no music had been added in post-production since the scene didn’t make it into the episode.

Fans flooded Rosenbaum’s post with likes and comments, including one who wrote, “DECEASED. 🤣🤣🤣 HOW did everyone else keep a straight face?!!!!”

Another quipped, “How did this get deleted?! 🤣🤣🤣”

Someone else commented, “OH my goodness! The looks of confusion on so many faces. This is gold! 🤣🤣 Congrats on reaching your goal, Ben! 🎉

After reaching his initial fundraising goal of $10,000, Rosenbaum offered a new incentive to fans on March 13, promising to release the clip of him dancing if his fans and friends helped to push the money raised to $15,000.

2025 Marks Ben Rosenbaum’s 10th Year Raising Funds for the MS Society

Rosenbaum kicked off his annual fundraiser on February 22, initially hoping to raise $10,000 before the MS Walk in Los Angeles on March 30. He offered up numerous prizes for donors, including three signed portraits that he, Krakow, and co-star Pascale Hutton painted of each other.

“Hearties have shown up for me year after year, and helped me raise a ton of money for a really good cause,” he told the Heart to Hearties podcast. “It’s incredible, the group coming together to do right by the community and do some good for the world. It’s one of my favorite parts of Hope Valley and it’s one of my favorite parts of the Hearties.”

It really feels like it translates between show and audience,” he continued. “There’s a lot of give and take there, and it’s a beautiful thing.”

At the time of publication, Rosenbaum had raised $15,138.00 for the National MS Society, with donations accepted through March 30. On his MS Walk landing page, he wrote, “I set an ambitious fundraising goal because I know that every dollar raised fuels cutting-edge research and provides critical services that allow those affected by MS to live their best lives.”

This marks the 10th year Rosenbaum has raised money for the MS Society as part of a team nicknamed “Don’t MS With Us,” he told the Suspenders Unbuttoned podcast on February 26. The team consists of a group of Los Angeles friends, he said, including someone who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a decade ago.

Rosenbaum said they’re “really trying to make a a dent and a difference … in the research and, ultimately, we hope the elimination of this disease as it stands.”
