Andie MacDowell Reveals Her Secrets to Full Hair & Flawless Skin at 67

Hallmark star Andie MacDowell just celebrated her 67th birthday. Fans regularly gush over how stunning “The Way Home” star looks, and she recently opened up about how she manages to maintain her hair and skin as she ages.

Andie MacDowell Believes She’s ‘Worth It’

On March 29, MacDowell talked with Prevention about her favorite skin care products. As the media outlet noted, MacDowell has been a L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador for forty years. She embraces the brand’s familiar line of “because you’re worth it” as her own “personal mantra,” and she explained why.

“Forty years is a long time working with a company. During that time, I’ve gone through some difficult times in my life. And I feel that having the opportunity to not only say I’m worth it for myself, but to help other people see their value is a wonderful way to lift yourself up,” MacDowell shared.

MacDowell admits, “There was a time when I was younger and I felt like older people were revered and looked up to. And I’m hoping that women can make the change for other women, recognizing that [aging is] your journey as well.”

She urged, “Look up to these older women and tell them how beautiful they are. Invite them, keep them at the table.”

The Hallmark star went on to highlight some of her favorite products. She admitted she keeps a lipstick in both her car and her purse, and MacDowell raved about L’Oréal Paris’ Age Perfect skincare line and oil.

In addition, MacDowell noted she craves sunlight and has a light therapy lamp at her home to ensure she gets light even when she’s working all day.

MacDowell noted that in her opinion, “the most important thing” in her beauty routine is doing her eyebrows. “This is what happens when you get older. Your eyebrows become unruly,” she quipped.

The Hallmark Star Went Gray During Covid

On April 21, MacDowell talked with T Magazine about her decision to go fully gray with her hair. She explained, “When my hair started growing out during the pandemic, I felt like it was time to embrace my age and be comfortable with where I was in my life.”

MacDowell continued, “I didn’t find many women who had silver hair, so I was inspired by men. I’d look at George Clooney or Hugh Grant and think, ‘He looks great.'”

“I realized going gray wasn’t going to be detrimental [to my career]; in fact, I think it made me more unique and powerful,” she added.

She recommended cutting hair short while initially transitioning to gray, and she pays attention to consistently conditioning her hair. MacDowell also embraces wearing clothing and accessories that work well with her gray hair color.

While MacDowell doesn’t stop herself from wearing whatever colors she wants, she said she’s noticed “that wearing certain colors enhances silver hair, including silver hoops and gray accessories.”
